Abstract: A device and method of predicting the failure of a heat exchanger of a heating device for a pool or spa are provided. The method comprises providing a measurement device to determine a baseline concentration of a metal within the water of the pool or the spa at a first time. The method further comprises measuring a concentration of the metal via the measurement device at a second time to define a measured concentration and determine if the measured concentration is greater than the baseline concentration. The method also comprises providing an alert when the measured concentration exceeds the baseline concentration by more than a predetermined amount. The metal detected by the measurement device may be at least one of copper, stainless steel, or titanium.

Abstract: A chemical controller for an aquatic application comprising at least one output relay. The chemical controller further includes a current detection circuit configured to detect current on an output of the at least one output relay and a current fault detection device configured to output a current fault signal indicative of the occurrence of a current fault condition. The chemical controller further comprises at least one relay latch configured to receive the relay enable signal and the current fault signal and to decouple the relay enable signal from a corresponding relay latch output when the current fault signal indicates the occurrence of a current fault condition. A relay drive circuit is configured to receive a signal from the corresponding relay latch output to and to responsively activate and deactivate the at least one output relay.

Abstract: Various systems and methods for determining pool volume are provided. A method for calibrating a pool device for a swimming pool or spa comprises injecting a known quantity of a chemical tracer reagent into the pool water, circulating the pool water of the pool or spa system for a pre-determined period of time, and measuring the concentration of the chemical tracer reagent via a sensor. The method further includes the steps of calculating the volume of the pool or spa system based on the measured concentration, inputting the volume into a user interface in communication with a pool device, and automatically adjusting at least one operating parameter of the swimming pool or spa based on the volume.

Abstract: A system and a method are provided for automatically discovering one or more pool devices of a connected aquatic system. The one or more pool devices can be provided in a form of one or more secondary panels and one or more pool components. A primary panel can broadcast a discovery message to identify the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components connected to the primary panel of the connected aquatic system. An identification response is generated and transmitted from the one or more secondary panels and/or the one or more pool components in response to the discovery message from the primary panel. The primary panel can receive and process the identification response and update a discovery status for each of the one or more secondary panels or the one or more pool components based on the identification response.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the control of pool/spa device circuits. A control system may control such circuits in response to command data received from local or remote client devices. Feature circuits and light groups may be defined via a user interface to include a group of pool/spa device circuits or light circuits, respectively. Activating a feature circuit may involve performing an associated logic function. Multiple feature circuits may be assigned to a feature circuit group which, when activated, may activate all feature circuits assigned to the feature group. The control system may control the performance of freeze protection and automatic cleaner functions, and may control light circuits to synchronized, color-changing light effects. Commands may be issued to the control system and system data may be stored and retrieved from a remote database via web servers, web application programming interface servers, and/or inter-server communication buses.

Abstract: A chemical controller for an aquatic application comprising an output relay. The chemical controller further includes a current detection circuit configured to detect current on an output of the output relay and a current fault detection device configured to output a current fault signal when a current fault condition has occurred. A relay latch of the chemical controller receives the relay enable signal and the current fault signal and decouples the relay enable signal from a corresponding output when a current fault condition has occurred. A relay drive circuit receives a signal from the corresponding output to responsively activate and deactivate the output relay. A watchdog timer circuit causes the output relay to be deactivated in response to detecting a hung processor.
