摘要: According to the present invention there is provided a method of analysis of the audience for channels selectable by a channel selector device for presentation on a presentation device, the channel selector device providing data indicating which channels are selected and the lengths of time for which selected channels remain selected. The data relating to the lengths of time for which channels remain selected is subject to a capping procedure, whereby the indicated length of time for which a channel remains selected is reduced to a capped maximum permitted length of time if the indicated length of time exceeds the maximum permitted length, to provide capped data. The capped data is employed to select, in dependence upon the indication of the channel selected and length of time for which the channel is selected, an array of probabilities of individuals' exposure (PIVs) to the presentation of the channel on a presentation device, for individuals of different demographies, whereby the data provided by the channel selector device can be resolved into data estimating the likelihood of individuals of different demographies participating in the audience.

摘要: Audience measurement systems having fixed and portable monitoring devices are provided. Embodiments of the audience measurement system may be suitable for monitoring programs viewed and/or listened to by one or more members of a sample household. The fixed monitoring device may be associated with a particular media device, for example, in the household's home and monitor a received broadcast signal and/or a state of the media device to extract information enabling a received program and/or station to be identified. The portable monitoring device may comprise a receiver for receiving sound of a program emitted by any nearby media device; a data extractor for extracting data from the received sound to enable a program and/or station to be identified. Either a first or a second communicator may be operable to transmit a device present signal in the vicinity of its respective monitoring device, and/or detect the said signal.

摘要: A system for identifying a program stream being displayed at a receiver location comprises means at a central station for measuring the relative luminance of a plurality of predetermined areas in each frame and recording that data with their times of occurrence for each of a plurality of program streams as reference data, and means at a receiver location to measure the relative luminance of the same areas but at a repetition rate less than that at the central station for a given time after a channel change and thereafter at an even lower repetition rate and storing the measurements at the receiver location with times defining corresponding broadcast times, and means for transmitting the stored data to the central station for correlating the measured and reference data using the recorded times to access the corresponding measured values of the recorded and reference data.

摘要: A reflective optical position or object detector, containing a light source (LED) and detector (phototransistor) is placed proximate to an acoustic membrane such that the output of the detector produces an electric signal corresponding to the motion of the membrane toward and away from the detector. Groups of these detectors can be placed at different locations under a single membrane to reproduce the frequency and harmonic content of the motion of the membrane at those locations, and the signals from each can be combined in variable proportion to a resultant electrical signal. These groups can be bounded by isolating frames and several bounded groups can be placed under a single membrane, or be covered by separate membranes. The groups with their bounding frames can be moved toward or away from the membrane, placing more or less tension upon the membrane, thereby altering the harmonic and frequency content of its vibration.

摘要: In an apparatus for coating a surface of at least one lens having pair of opposed major surfaces, al least one lens support is coupled to a frame and is rotatable relative thereto. A lens is releasably mounted to the lens support leaving one of the major lens surfaces exposed. A mounting plate is coupled to the frame and is positioned proximate to the lens support. A series of work stations are carried by the mounting plate for sequentially performing work operations on the exposed major surface of the lens. The lens support is indexable relative to the mounting plate to position the exposed lens surface adjacent to each of the work stations in response to commands issued from a controller.
