    摘要: Disclosed herein are apparatus, methods and computer program products for using access point availability information in a wireless communications system. In aspects of the method performed at an access point in a wireless communications system, the access point generates a message indicating the level of availability of the access point; and transmits the message. In aspects of the method performed at user equipment in a wireless communications system, the user equipment receives messages from access points in the wireless communications system, the messages containing access point availability information indicating the respective levels of availability of the access points available for selection by the user equipment; and selects an access point in dependence on the access point availability information. In variants, the user equipment may perform additional steps to determine whether a current or contemplated operating mode requires selection of an access point be made in dependence on access point availability information associated with the access point. Only if the current or contemplated operating mode provides a quality of service that is dependent on level of availability of an access point will the access point availability information be consulted when selecting an access point.

    摘要: A method for encapsulation of labeled datagrams over serial communications links, and a method for extracting the datagrams on the receiving end of the link. The encapsulation method includes adding a label and a label error correction to the front of a datagram, the label error correction being derived using the label and adding a cyclic redundancy check at a trailing end of the datagram, the cyclic redundancy check being derived using the datagram. The end of a packet encapsulating the datagram with a label, a label error correction field and a cyclic redundancy check field is identified by analyzing incoming bits for a packet until a pattern of bits is detected that matches a number of previous bits of the packet coded with a predetermined coding formula and identifying the end of the packet based upon the detection of the match and the predetermined coding formula. The end of the current frame may be identified by coding incoming bits according to the cyclic redundancy check polynomial to produce a calculated cyclic redundancy check until the calculated cyclic redundancy check matches the cyclic redundancy check field. In addition, or alternatively, the end of the previous frame may be identified by coding incoming bits according to the label error correction polynomial to produce a calculated label error correction until the label error correction matches the label error correction field.

    摘要: A method, system, peers and computer programs determine validity of path information corresponding to a transmission path between a monitoring peer and a monitored peer in a data communication network. The monitoring peer monitors unsolicited data received from the monitored peer via the reverse transmission path identified by the path information and further monitors any data sent to the monitored peer using the path information. Validity tests are performed by the monitoring peer for the path information to restore complete confidence in its validity in a way where the rate of testing is proportional to the rate of receiving unsolicited data from the monitored peer and to the rate of sending data to the monitored peer. The monitoring peer invalidates the path information if the validity test fails.
