摘要: A method of scan conversion comprising (a) receiving source data representing a predetermined signal component of respective pixels of successive lines of a non-interlaced display, (b) adding the source data related to vertically adjacent pixels in a set of source lines of the non-interlaced display to form one of an odd and even line of an interlaced display, (c) repeating step (b) for another immediately following set of source lines to form another one of the odd or even line of the interlaced display, and (d) repeating steps (a), (b) and (c) successively to an end of an odd or even field of the interlaced display.

摘要: A method and apparatus for protecting access to audio and/or video data is accomplished when data is received, where the data may be audio data and/or video data. Having received the data, it is interpreted to determine whether an embedded data access parameter is active. If so, an indication of the particular type of data access is generated. The data access parameter may control access to the data as at least one of: copy restrictions, viewing restrictions, and/or use restrictions. The indication is subsequently provided to a computer system such that unauthorized accessing, including unauthorized copying, of the video and/or audio data is prohibited.

摘要: An image analyser analyses regions of an image. An image scaler may then scale the image adaptively, in dependence on the nature of region of the image being scaled. In one embodiment, adjacent pixels are analysed to determine their frequency content. This frequency analysis provides an indication of whether the pixels likely contain hard edges, discontinuities or variations typical of computer generated graphics. As a result of the analysis, the type of scaling suited for scaling the image portion containing the pixels may be assessed. Adjacent pixels having high frequency components may be scaled by a scaling circuit that introduces limited ringing. Adjacent pixels having lower frequency components may be scaled using a higher-order multi-tap scaler. Resulting scaled pixels may be formed as a blended combination of the two different scaling techniques.

摘要: A method and apparatus for detecting differences between an image update rate and a display update rate and to provide a viable solution that produces minimal adverse visual effects is achieved by first detecting an image delineation from a stream of images. The image delineation is then used to determine the image update rate which is compared to the display update rate to produce a relationship between the two update rates. The relationship is then compared to a plurality of desired relationships to determine if it is sufficiently similar to one or more of the desired relationships. If it is, an image display pattern associated with the desired relationship is used. For example, if the relationship is sufficiently similar to the desired relationship of 1:1, then the image display pattern will be 1111 . . . In other words, the image display pattern would display each received image once. But, even though the relationship is sufficiently similar, the display update is adjusted, such that, over time, the relationship matches the desired relationship.
