摘要: Embodiments of optical discs and methods for making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the optical disc comprises: at least two plastic substrates comprising a bonding layer and a data layer disposed therebetween, wherein at least one of the substrates is a read side substrate comprising greater than or equal to about 0.05 wt % colorant, based upon the total weight of the read side substrate, and wherein the read side substrate has a UV Bonding Index of greater than or equal to about 0.5. One method for making the optical disc comprises: forming a first plastic substrate comprising greater than or equal to about 0.05 wt % colorant, based upon the total weight of the first plastic substrate, wherein a UV Bonding Index of the first plastic substrate is controlled to be greater than or equal to about 0.5, disposing a data layer between the first plastic substrate and a second substrate, bonding the first plastic substrate to the second plastic substrate with a bonding layer, and curing the bonding layer.

摘要: A colored optical disk and method for making the same are disclosed herein. The method comprises: disposing a first semi-reflective data layer on a first resin layer, wherein the first resin layer has light transmission at a desired reading wavelength of greater than about 60%; disposing a top side of a first fully reflective data layer on a side of said first semi-reflective data layer opposite said first resin layer, wherein reflectivity of the first fully reflective data layer and the first semi-reflective data layer is individually about 18 to about 30%, and wherein a difference in the reflectivity between the first fully reflective data layer and the first semi-reflective data layer is less than about 5%; disposing a separating layer between said first fully reflective data layer and said first semi-reflective data layer; disposing a second resin layer on a bottom side of said first fully reflective data layer; and adding color to at least a portion of the optical disk.

摘要: A colored optical disk and method for making the same are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the optical disk comprises: a first fully reflective data layer, a first separating layer disposed on a top side of the first fully reflective data layer, a first semi-reflective data layer disposed on a side of the separating layer opposite the first fully reflective data layer, a first resin layer disposed on an upper side the first semi-reflective data layer opposite the separating layer, a second resin layer disposed on a bottom side of said first fully reflective data layer, wherein a reflectivity of the first fully reflective data layer and the first semi-reflective data layer is individually about 18 to about 30%, wherein a difference in the reflectivity between the first fully reflective data layer and the first semi-reflective data layer is less than or equal to about 5%; and wherein at least a portion of the optical disk comprises colorant.

摘要: The present invention is drawn to a transparent or translucent thermoplastic composition comprising a thermoplastic polycarbonate resin and a phosphorescent phosphor with an aluminate matrix expressed by MAl2O4 in which M is calcium, strontium or barium. Said phosphorescent phosphor is present in a quantity of 0.01 to 2.0% by weight with respect to the quantity of polycarbonate resin and possesses a median particle size of less than 10 micrometer. Forming an object by injection molding using said transparent or translucent thermoplastic composition is also disclosed.

摘要: One method for producing a data storage media, comprises: molding a material comprising plastic and a fluorescent material to form a substrate, and disposing a data layer on the substrate. The substrate has a transmissivity of about 85% or less at a readback laser wavelength when traversing a 1.2 mm thick colored substrate, and the has a fluorescent color emission wavelength which is not equal to the readback laser wavelength.
