摘要: A passive restriction passageway (for example, a passive capillary valve or a restricting orifice) positioned to drain accumulated liquid from a fuel cell reactant flow channel is used in conjunction with a control element for periodically adjusting the pressure across the passageway. The control element intermittently adjusts pressure across the passageway to enable liquid flow through the passageway. The restriction passageways and the adjustment of pressure periodically move liquid water through the passageways to drain liquid buildup from the reactant supply channels. Together, these features enable sustained performance from the fuel cell during operation and also prevent damage to the fuel cell when the fuel cell is exposed to freezing temperatures (especially after shutdown of the fuel cell).

摘要: A knitted glove made by creating each of the sections of the glove using a separate knitting course on a flat knitting machine providing variable stitch dimensions. Each of these sections provides its own designed stretch characteristics so that the glove fits tightly, yet provides flexibility and ease of movement. The variable stitch dimension is achieved by 1) varying the depth of penetration of a knitting needle into a fabric being knitted by a computer program, 2) adjusting the tension of yarn between a pinch roller and a knitting head by a mechanism controlled by a computer, and 3) casting off or picking up additional stitches in a course. The glove includes a plurality of finger components made from at least ten separately knitted sections, two palm components, each of which is made from at least two separately knitted sections, and a wrist component made from at least one knitted section.

摘要: A seamless, single layer, multi-yarn glove or glove liner is disclosed. The glove or glove liner includes a first type of yarn and a second type of yarn that is different from the first type of yarn. The glove or glove liner has a single layer that includes the first type of yarn and the second type of yarn knitted together to form a hand-like structure that includes a thumb section, a plurality of finger sections and a palm section. The first type of yarn is different that the second type of yarn. For example, the first type of yarn may be a cut resistant yarn and the second type of yarn may be an inexpensive elastic yarn such as Spandex. Gloves suitable for use by carpenters, electricians, HVAC handlers, laborers, masons, and plumbers are also provided. Methods of using these gloves are also provided.

A distal portion of the needle can be formed of a first material which does not interfere with MRI imaging of a tissue receiving port disposed in the distal needle portion. A proximal needle portion can be formed of a second, different material, such as a metal. The proximal needle portion can provide strength and stiffness.

摘要: A knitted glove made by creating each of the at least fifteen sections using a separate knitting course on a flat knitting machine providing variable stitch dimensions with one or two yarns. Each of these sections provides custom stretch characteristics using one or two yarns providing a tight glove that provides flexibility and ease of movement. The variable stitch dimension is achieved by 1) varying the depth of penetration of the knitting needle into fabric being knitted by a computer program, 2) adjusting the tension of yarn between a pinch roll and knitting head by a mechanism controlled by a computer and 3) casting off or picking up additional stitches in a course. The glove includes five finger components made from at least ten separately knitted sections, two palm components each made from at least two separately knitted sections, and a wrist component made from at least one knitted section.

摘要: A system and method for determining the internal temperature of a fuel cell stack during stack start-up so as to start a cooling fluid flow before the internal temperature of the stack rises above a temperature that might damage the fuel cells within the stack. The system and method include determining an initial temperature from either an ambient temperature sensor or a sensor in the cooling fluid manifold in the stack, measuring the voltage of the stack and the current from the stack, and from these values determining the waste heat from the stack to determine its temperature. If hydrogen is sent to the cathode side of the stack during the start-up, then the system and method also include determining the flow rate of the hydrogen.
