Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for early termination of paging search in CSS. A user equipment (UE) may search a common search space (CSS) for a paging indication that may be repeated, up to and including, a maximal number of times in the CSS. A receive power of a reference signal (RS) may be measured for a paging candidate for a number of repetitions, which may be associated with a partial time-frequency region of the CSS. The UE may terminate the paging search based at least on the receive power of the RS and may declare no paging is present without monitoring or searching the full CSS associated with the maximal number of repetitions.

As such, the device may operate or communicate using the baseband that is customized based on the device profile and application of the device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) performs wireless communication by starting a scan of an absolute radio frequency channel number (ARFCN) configured for performing a narrowband communication. The UE determines, based on a spectral characteristic of a phase of a signal in the ARFCN, whether a cellular communication is deployed in the ARFCN. The UE may then terminate the scan of the ARFCN in response to the spectral characteristic of the phase of the signal in the ARFCN indicating that the cellular communication is deployed in the ARFCN. Alternatively, the UE may proceed with a synchronization signal search on the ARFCN in response to the spectral characteristic of the phase of the signal in the ARFCN indicating that the cellular communication is not deployed in the ARFCN.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) for wireless communication. The UE wakes to monitor for a wakeup signal (WUS) having a maximum WUS duration and configured to indicate an upcoming transmission of a paging signal corresponding to the WUS. The UE detects a reference signal tone energy from tones carrying reference signals, detects a WUS tone energy from tones designated for carrying the WUS, and determines whether the WUS is present or absent based on the WUS tone energy and the reference signal tone energy. The UE then transitions to a sleep state prior to an end of the maximum WUS duration when the WUS is determined to be absent. Alternatively, the UE remains awake when the WUS is determined to be present and receives the paging signal corresponding to the WUS. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is to scan one or more frequency bands during a cell acquisition procedure. The UE may receive one or more over-the-air signals, each of the one or more over-the-air signals having a respective bandwidth that includes a corresponding plurality of channels from a frequency band of the one or more frequency bands. The UE may process individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals. The UE may evaluate, in corresponding batches for each of the individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals, each of the corresponding pluralities of channels for cell acquisition. The UE may acquire a cell via batch-wise evaluation of the corresponding pluralities of channels.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a plurality of master information blocks (MIBs) on a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH). The UE may determine an NPBCH signal power based at least in part on the plurality of MIBs. The UE may estimate a narrowband reference signal received power (NRSRP) parameter based at least in part on the NPBCH signal power. In some aspects, a base station may determine whether to enable or disable NPBCH-based estimates of an NRSRP parameter for a UE. The base station may transmit, to the UE, an indication of whether NPBCH-based estimates of the NRSRP parameter are enabled or disabled for the UE based at least in part on the determination.
