Abstract: A multi-node computing system is disclosed. The multi-node computing system includes a chassis and a detachable cable cage removably mounted within the chassis. The detachable cable cage includes a base frame assembly having a bottom plate connecting a first plate and a second plate. The first and second plate face each other and extend across a width of the base frame assembly between a first side and a second side of the base frame assembly. The detachable cable cage further includes a first panel assembly movingly coupled to the first side of the base frame assembly and a second panel assembly movingly coupled to the second side of the base frame assembly. The first panel assembly and/or the second panel assembly is movable between a closed position and an open position, and an internal space of the detachable cable cage is accessible in the open position.

Abstract: An example computing system includes an I/O module that is securable to the computer chassis. The I/O module includes a gear rack. In additional implementations, the computing system includes a fastening assembly which has a fastener configured to receive an external rotational force from a user. In other implementations, the fastening assembly includes a thread mechanism having first and second portions. The first portion of the thread mechanism are rotatably fixed to the fastener. In other implementations, the fastening assembly includes a gear rotatably fixed to the second portion of the thread mechanism, the gear being configured to engage a gear rack coupled to the I/O module. Upon receiving the external rotational force, the thread mechanism also causes (a) the gear to rotate and (b), in turn, linear movement of the gear rack to (c) secure or unsecure the I/O module relative to the computer chassis.

Abstract: A connector consisting of a body, a first slot, a second slot, a first terminal, and a second terminal is disclosed. The first slot is provided on the body to receive a first printed circuit board (PCB). The second slot is provided on the body to receive a second PCB. The first slot and the second slot are separate and distinct slots. When the first PCB and the second PCB are received in the first slot and the second slot, respectively, the first terminal electrically connects the first PCB and the second PCB, and the second terminal connects to only the second PCB. Providing the first slot on the connector allows adding expansion cards, control cards, and the like to enhance functionality of computing systems.

Abstract: A hybrid cooling system is disclosed that combines a liquid coolant cycle and a refrigerant cycle to efficiently and effectively transfer heat away from a heat-generating component of a computing device. The liquid coolant cycle pumps a liquid coolant through a cold plate to extract heat from the heat-generating component. The heated liquid coolant passes through a coolant-to-refrigerant heat exchanger, where refrigerant from the refrigerant cycle absorbs the heat from the liquid coolant. The heated refrigerant passes through a compressor to a condenser, where the high-pressure, heated refrigerant is cooled by air passing over the condenser. The hybrid cooling system enables cooling of a heat-generating component better than by non-hybrid cooling systems.

Abstract: A partition device for improving cooling of a heat-generating electronic device includes a grid panel and an airflow deflector. The grid panel has one or more apertures and a thickness that extends from a leading surface to a trailing surface. The apertures of the grid panel extend parallel to an airflow direction of forced air flowing across the thickness of the grid panel and through the apertures. The airflow deflector is attached at least in part within one of the apertures, and the airflow deflector has an airfoil shape for reducing air resistance between the forced air and the grid panel. The airfoil shape has a leading edge that redirects initial contact with the forced air and a trailing edge that continues redirecting the forced air.

Abstract: A nucleate boiling apparatus is disclosed that includes a base configured to fit onto a heat-producing object to provide immersion cooling to the object in a liquid-cooled computing environment. The apparatus further includes first and second pluralities of pipes extending from opposite sides of the base. Each of the first and second pluralities of pipes including a respective transition region and a respective flat region. The first and second pluralities of pipes in the transition regions extend away and up from the base, and the first and second pluralities of pipes in the flat regions extend away from the base in a fanned-out arrangement. The flat region of the second plurality of pipes is at a greater distance from the base than the flat region of the first plurality of pipes.

Abstract: A cold plate for cooling a heat-generating component in a computer system is disclosed. The cold plate includes a lid member with a lower supply manifold housing and a lower collection manifold housing. The cold plate includes a base member having coolant channels defined by fins. Each of the fins have a top section and a bottom section attached to the base member. An interior cavity is defined by an arc-shaped section of the fins, the interior surface of the base, and the lower supply manifold housing. An interior corner is formed by the lower supply manifold housing of the lower manifold housing at the top of the fins to trap debris. An upper inlet manifold has a connector to receive coolant. An upper outlet manifold has a connector to circulate coolant. The upper manifolds are in fluid communication with the collection manifold housings.

Abstract: A quick-connector comprises a first body portion, a second body portion, and a ball valve. The first body portion defines a first fluid channel. The second body portion defines a second fluid channel. The second body portion is coupled to the first body portion such that the first fluid channel is aligned with the second fluid channel. The first fluid channel and the second fluid channel form a fluid channel extending through the quick-connector. The ball valve is positioned in the fluid channel extending through the quick-connector. Movement of the first body portion and the second body portion relative to each other causes the ball valve to move between a flow position and a sealed position. In the flow position, the ball valve allows fluid to flow through the quick-connector. In the sealed position, the ball valve prevents fluid from flowing through the quick-connector.
