Abstract: A novel electron beam tube and a method of adjusting the electrode spacing of an electron gun therein utilize an expansion member to support the cathode cylinder of the gun within the electron gun assembly of the tube. With this method, the proper control grid-cathode spacing for cutoff of the electron gun at desired operating voltages is fixed after the tube is constructed and while the gun is operating under normal conditions.
