摘要: A distal tibia plating system includes anterolateral and medial plates. The anterolateral plate includes a shaft with both threaded first fastener holes and compression slots along its length. The head includes a first row of four threaded fastener holes arranged transversely to the longitudinal axis, a non-threaded compression screw hole, and a plurality of distal tabs. Each tab includes a ring with a single threaded fastener hole and a bridge that couples the ring to the distal end of the plate. The bridge is configured to bend preferentially in a desired direction and to allow tab removal. The medial plate is a low profile plate including a shaft and a relatively enlarged distal head. Several fasteners can be used with the plates. A plate holder is provided to maneuver the plates subcutaneously.

摘要: A fixation device for fixation and/or fusion of the bones and joints of the mid-foot includes a plate having a plurality of screw holes for attachment of the plate around the perimeter of the fusion site. In one embodiment, four screw holes are positioned at the corners of the plate and two screw holes are located at the opposite sides and mid-length of the plate. Preferably, four additional screw holes are defined at the interior of the plate to increase the number of points of attachment of the plate to the bones of the mid-foot or to increase the ability to stabilize multiple bone segments in the case of a difficult mid-foot fracture. The plate includes a plurality of cut-outs defined between or interior of the screw holes. The cut-outs are sized to accept additional bone fasteners to either enhance the attachment of the plate to the mid-foot bones or to provide access for a fastener to reduce a bone fragment beneath the plate. The plate is configured so that the screw holes and cut-outs are not positioned over a fusion location when the plate is attached to the mid-foot.

摘要: A device for fixation of the navicular bone of the foot includes a truss plate defining a plurality of holes for receive bone screws therethrough. The holes are staggered along the length and width of the plate to minimize the overall width of the plate and to ensure that bone screws passing through all holes do not conflict within the bone. The plate includes a medial section configured for attachment to the medial aspect of the navicular and a dorsal section that is curved into a hook shape for attachment to the dorsal aspect of the bone. The hook shape helps retain and reduce the bone fragments of a fractured navicular. The plate further defines a plurality of cut-outs between struts supporting the screw hole locations, wherein the cut-outs are configured to receive bone fasteners therethrough.

摘要: A bone support structure is formed with opposing dynamization windows, and spacers of a bioresorbable material are positioned within the dynamization windows. The dynamization windows are longer than they are wide. The spacers may be integrally formed as a single insert. The bone support assembly is used with a bone fastener such as a bone screw which is advanced transversely through both the insert and the bone. The bone fastener is smaller across than the dynamization windows, so each spacer spaces the bone fastener relative to its dynamization window. As the spacers resorb, stress (at least in one direction) is increasingly transmitted through the fracture site rather than through the bone support structure. The positioning of the bone fastener, the shape and size of the dynamization windows and spacers, and the material of the spacers all allow design control over the type and amount of dynamization seen at the fracture site. Also, because the bone fastener is smaller across than the dynamization windows and spacers, a larger error in placement of the bone fastener is permissible. The insert can be selected by the surgeon and placed into the bone support structure based upon desired treatment modalities.
