摘要： A vehicle navigation system uses a simple graphic user interface (GUI) to display a route formed by a sequence of route segments. At any given time, the vehicle navigation system displays a single route segment, defined either as the distance between consecutive turn points or as a fixed distance. The vehicle navigation system also displays a graphic representation of the vehicle. The user can scroll backward and forward through the sequence of route segments using a simple control, such as a knob or a keypad. As a result, the user can view the entire route easily without having to mentally adjust to different frames of reference, such as between an overview map and a detailed map.

摘要： A method for entering and processing a search for geographical information. The method comprises the steps of providing a database including a plurality of data tables, which are non-hierarchically indexed; providing a search field corresponding to each one of the plurality of data tables, the search fields being non-sequential relative to one another; and inputting either partial or complete information into any one or more of the search fields. The input of information into the search fields may be performed non-sequentially. The input of partial information into the search field yields an unresolved field and the input of complete information into the search field yields a resolved field. The method further includes searching the database for information matching both the unresolved fields and the resolved fields, and retrieving one or more results. Each of the results includes the information inputted into both the unresolved field and resolved fields.

A method is also disclosed for presenting hierarchal information to a user including presenting to a user one or more classification categories of information associated with music content, presenting to a user one or more selection options within the one or more classification categories and one or more filters and prompting the user to make one or more selections from the one or more selection options. If the user does not select at least one filter, a playlist is compiled of all songs encompassed by the specific selection made by the user. If the user does select at least one filter, the at least one filter is applied to the selected options.
