摘要: A flow scheme is presented for the production of high purity D-allose from D-glucose. The key reaction is epimerization of D-glucose at C-3 to afford D-allose in per pass yields of at least 7%. The epimerization reaction product is then subjected to concentration, decolorization, and deionization before entering a separation zone, preferably a sorptive separation zone, from which an extract stream enriched in D-allose is obtained.

摘要: An immobilized antibody system can be made by reacting an aminated core support with an antibody in the presence of a condensing agent which promotes the formation of the amide linkage. The immobilized antibody system is highly resistant to leaching, may be made incompressible, sterilizable, and pyrogen-free. Such an immobilized antibody system is well suited for repeated use with minimal change in its physical and biochemical properties.

摘要: D-Talose and D-allose are reduced calorie sugars which taste sweet, provide bulk, and undergo the browning reaction. They can be effectively used per se or in combination with intense sweeteners to provide a method of sweetening a broad variety of foods and foodstuffs while providing bulk and body to the product. These materials are especially valuable in baked goods because they closely mimic sucrose in undergoing browning.

摘要: D-allose has been found to substantially inhibit segmented neutrophil production and to lower platelet counts during in vivo trials, without other significant detrimental clinical effects. Such pharmacological activity makes D-allose a good candidate for treatment, either alone or as an adjuvant, of such conditions as chronic myelogenous leukemia. It also holds promise in reducing thrombus formation during post-operative periods, especially in combination with other anti-clotting drugs.

摘要: A shutdown cooling system for a nuclear reactor operates during lapse of normal power and emergency power and has an independent power source fo removing residual heat while cooling the seals of the main reactor coolant pump. A high pressure pump delivers cooling water to the reactor cooling pump seals, a low pressure pump circulates core coolant, and a cooling mechanism discharges the decay heat. Electrical power for the pumps and associated valves and controls is provided by a dedicated power source apart from the regular residual heat removal apparatus of the reactor, and apart from the emergency generators provided for regular power failure backup.
