    摘要: The invention relates to method and device for improving the link configuration speed of high-latency links, such as circuit switched links or satellite links, that use chatty protocols, which require sequential configuration phases, such as standard PPP in accordance with RfC 1661. In the initial link configuration phase, a standard LCP packet is sent out, followed by at least one masked packet that will be discarded silently by a peer operating in accordance with the standard protocol, but whose contents will be processed by a peer operating in accordance with the invention. The initial standard LCP packet produces compatibility with the standard protocol, whereas the sending of masked packets containing configuration information (PAP, CHAP, ICPC, etc.) allows two peers operating in accordance with the invention to accomplish the configuration phases in parallel, such that a link can be configured and ready to transmit network level packets, such as IP packets, much more quickly than with the standard protocol, such as PPP.

    摘要: Differentiated Handling of Data Traffic with Adaptation of Network Address Lookup In a method of differentiated handling of data traffic, the data traffic is related to a network resource and is preceded by a lookup procedure for obtaining a network address of the network resource. A message of the lookup procedure is processed for adapting the lookup procedure. Due to the adaptation, the lookup procedure returns a network address of a replacement network resource. The replacement network resource is capable of replacing the network resource in communication of data packets of the data traffic. On the basis of the network address of the replacement network resource, differentiated handling of the data packets in said communication with the replacement network resource is accomplished.

    摘要: A communication system includes a user equipment (UE) 10 and a gateway 26. The UE (10) sends data packets on one or more bearers (52, 54) to the gateway 26. One or more packet filters (62, 64) are installed in the UE (10) for associating the data packets with the bearers (52, 54). A decision is performed if installation of a new packet filter (62, 64) in the UE (10) is required to map the data packets of indicated data traffic to a particular bearer (52, 54). The result of the decision may then be indicated from a policy controller (30) to a gateway (26) and/or from the gateway (26) to the UE (10). Depending on the result of the decision, the gateway may initiate signaling of the new packet filter (62, 64) to the UE (10) and/or the UE (10) may install the new packet filter (62, 64).
