    摘要: Graphics commands for a display are listed and divided into sublists corresponding to separate strips or bands of the display, and these sublists drive the display memory consecutively and substantially concurrently with the processing of additional sublists. Graphics commands relating to graphics extending between bands are transferred to successive sublists during processing to provide their display in successive bands. A pair of band size bit map memories are alternately loaded with band information and read out.

The user interface, which includes a visual recognition system, enables the user to transparently control multiple input devices over a variety of protocols while operating on a single control layer of an input command device. In an alternative embodiment, the control system also enables gated signal pass-through control while avoiding signal jamming.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided that enhance the utility of a household's TV to facilitate communication between members of the household through a central messaging system. The messaging system includes a TV and a remote control with a touch sensitive panel area on which a user can stroke characters or sketches using a stylus, finger and the like. The remote control is capable of performing character recognition if necessary, and transmitting the characters and/or simple sketches over an IR beam to the TV. The TV then uses its OSD graphical control system to display the characters and sketches. In operation, an operator is able to retrieve and/or draft messages. Once retrieved, the messages can be replied to, stored in non-volatile memory or erased.

    摘要: A system for selectively controlling individual expansion slots in an IBM-AT/NEC 9801 dual compatible computer provides automatic control for the individual ISA bus expansion slots in the computer. This facilitates the use of an Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus and ISA (AT) type add-on cards in the dual compatible computer. A user configures each slot as containing either a card which may interfere with operations of the computer in the non-IBM-AT compatible mode or a card which will not interfere with computer operations in the non-IBM-AT compatible mode. Thereafter, the computer automatically disables the cards in accordance with the mode of computer operation.
