    摘要: An optical channel waveguide having a reflection grating and a related method for its fabrication. The grating is apodized to provide a desired reflection or transmission spectral characteristic, by varying the grating width along the length of the grating in the direction of light propagation. The grating has multiple parallel elements extending across the waveguide channel width, and apodization is effected by appropriate selection of the width of each element relative to the width of the channel, without varying the grating duty cycle or other parameters.

    摘要: An exercise apparatus for permitting a user to build muscle strength in an ergonomic fashion comprising a weighted body with a first and second opposing faces with a handle attached to the body in a manner that permits the user to grip the apparatus during use without having to grip the body directly, and the first face comprises an ergonomic generally concave surface configured to more closely conform to the user's forearm profile when the apparatus is gripped by the user in a manner such that the body comes in contact with the user's forearm. Alternate embodiment incorporates a second face comprising an ergonomic generally concave surface.

    摘要: Propagation time for a target signal path is determined by detecting and processing a plurality of unknown signals received at two locations. A third location is established, such that the propagation time between the third location and one of the two locations is known, and the signal path between the third location and the other of the two locations is the target signal path. The two locations are monitored for any signals that may be detected. Signals received at the two locations are processed to determine which signals have a common source, and of the signals having a common source, the signal having the greatest delay between times of reception at the two locations is selected. The selected signal is used to determine the propagation time between the two locations.

    摘要: A through-the-wafer (TTW) electrically conductive connection can be produced in a heavily doped substrate. An annular trench is created from one side of the wafer such that the trench almost reaches the second side of the wafer. The annular trench can be filled with an electrically insulating material. Alternatively, an electrically insulating layer can be produced on the sides of the trench which is then filled with any material. After filling the trench, the bottom of the substrate is ground to expose the trench bottom and the front side is polished to expose the trench top. The plug of substrate material inside the annular trench is a TTW electrical connection.
