    摘要: Improved plotting and printing apparatus has a writing surface for supporting a printing medium and which has an opening for exposing the underside of the medium. A transparent plate is mounted to the supporting surface so as to permit placement onto that surface of a printing medium such as a plural leaf form set whose area is larger than that of the plate so that one portion of the medium extends across the opening under the plate and can be printed on by a printer positioned under the surface opposite the opening, while another portion of the medium lies on the surface beyond the plate so that it can be written on from above the surface.

    摘要: A camera mounting assembly for a weapon is provided. The mounting assembly includes a mount for direct attachment to the weapon. A parallelogram linkage includes a pair of depending swing arms, each of which is pivotally secured at one end in the mount and at the opposite end in a camera support. The support also includes a transverse slot for receiving a stud or other mount carried by a camera. When the weapon is discharged, the swing arms allow the camera and support to together swing to and fro in response to the forces generated. During this swinging motion, the support and hence the camera are both maintained substantially aligned with the line-of-sight of the weapon at all times, thereby ensuring that the shoot is reliably captured. Dampers may also be provided to dampen the swinging motion of the camera created upon discharge. The combination of the swinging and damping improves the capture of the shoot by reducing the effects of the recoil or discharge forces. Also, since the camera is not in direct contact with the weapon, the potential for shock damage is significantly reduced.

    摘要: An aeroacoustical test apparatus for evaluating a component. The apparatus includes a primary exhaust generating means which detects a primary gaseous flow through a primary passageway and out the primary nozzle. The apparatus further includes a secondary bypass flow generating means which directs bypass flow through a bypass passageway and out the secondary nozzle. An acoustical energy generating means having a sound transmitting axis is substantially centered on the longitudinal center axis of the apparatus. The acoustical energy generating means projects acoustical energy through a first centrally located acoustical coupler and a plurality of secondary acoustical couplers which extend around the primary exhaust generating means and into the secondary bypass passageway to cause the acoustical energy to exit from the secondary nozzle. Acoustical energy is generated by the acoustical energy generating means and acoustical energy flows into the first acoustical coupler and expands as it goes into the plurality of secondary acoustical couplers and expands further as it goes into the annular bypass passageway. The introduction of acoustical energy into the air in the annular bypass passageway results in the generation in that passageway of fan noise which would be created in the bypass duct of a jet engine employing the nozzle assembly being tested under actual operating conditions. A method for evaluating a component is also disclosed.

    摘要: Squarylium compounds of the formula: ##STR1## (in which Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2 are each a chromophoric group having an aromatic unsaturated system conjugated with the squarylium ring and such that in the compounds of formulae Q.sup.1 CH.sub.2 R.sup.1 and Q.sup.2 CH.sub.2 R.sup.2 the methylene hydrogens are active hydrogens, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic group, and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each independently a hydrogen atom, or an acyl, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group, subject to the proviso that one of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be an amino or substituted amino group, or one of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom and the other is an organosulfonyl group, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together with the intervening nitrogen atom form a nitrogenous heterocyclic ring) are useful as near infra-red absorbers. The presence of the amino group on the squarylium ring enables minor changes in absorption wavelength to be achieved by modifications of this group, and also allows functional groups to be incorporated into the dye without changing the chromophoric groups.
