    摘要: The present invention is directed to a method of inhibiting corrosion in aqueous systems which employ amino acid chelants in concentrations which are corrosive to the metal surfaces in contact with the aqueous system. The method comprises adding to the system a corrosion inhibiting amount of 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDPA). The corrosion inhibiting amount is generally in the range of from 0.5% to 10% on the basis of the concentration of amino acid chelant in the system.

    摘要: A process for oxidizing aromatic and alkyl substituted aromatic compounds to carbonyl containing compounds by contacting an aromatic and alkyl aromatic compound with an aqueous solution of ceric trifluoromethanesulfonate having from at least 0.75 to 7 molar concentration of free acid of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and at least 0.2 molar cerium ion concentration. The present process provides a highly effective means of forming the desired carbonyl containing product in good yields and high selectivity.

The aqueous system should have a pH greater than 7 and have low to moderate hardness.
