摘要:
A wireless communication system (100) and method for providing high speed uplink packet access from user equipment (128, 130) to a base station (114, 116, 118, 120). Each of the user equipment (128, 130) and the base station (114, 116, 118, 120) includes a transmitter (1106, 1206), a receiver (1104, 1204), and a controller (1108, 1208) coupled to the transmitter and the receiver. Data packets are transmitted from the user equipment (128, 130) to the base station (114, 116, 118, 120). Control information, corresponding to the data packets, is transmitted from the base station (114, 116, 118, 120) to the user equipment (128, 130). The control information includes at least a control channel acknowledgement field in an absolute grant channel assigned to the user equipment (128, 130). The controller (1108) of the user equipment (128, 130) is configured to utilize the channelization code(s) in response to handoff and/or entering an active channel state.

摘要:
A system and method for uplink control signaling in a communication system includes a step of transmitting (200) the uplink control signaling in a frequency resource of the communication system reserved for random access. In particular, this step (200) can include allowing (202) the Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) to coexist with the Physical Random Access CHannel (PRACH) and transmitting (204) only channels which do not require Acknowledged/Negative Acknowledged (ACK/NACK) transmission.
摘要:
A network node constructs (22) a downlink transmission using at least one group of resource elements. A remote unit receives (12) the downlink transmission and determines (13) a lowest index of the at least one group of resource elements. The remote unit then determines (14) an uplink resource, for use in uplink (UL) acknowledgment signaling, using the lowest index. The network node then receives (23, 24) the UL acknowledgment signaling that corresponds to the downlink transmission, the UL acknowledgment signaling having been transmitted using the uplink resource based on the lowest index. To determine the uplink resource, both the remote unit and the network node implicitly use the lowest index of the at least one group of resource elements that were used to construct the downlink transmission. Implicitly determining the uplink resource in this manner, serves to reduce overhead related to acknowledgment signaling.

A method for blindly detecting a precoding matrix index used to transmit a data or control signal is provided. The method includes receiving at a mobile station (102) a common reference signal and user specific data and control signal weighted by precoding matrix. An objective function is applied to the received reference signal and user specific data and control signal that minimizes the objective function for each of at least one rank used to transmit the received user specific data and control signal and each of known possible modulation constellations used to transmit the received data/control signal to determine the precoding matrix index (PMI).

In an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing communication system, wherein frequency bandwidth may be represented by multiple Resource Block Group (RBG) levels, wherein each RBG level comprises a division of the frequency bandwidth into a number of RBGs different from the number of RBGs of the other RBG levels, a user equipment measures a channel quality associated with one or more RBGs of one or more RBG levels of the multiple RBG levels, selects an RBG of from among the measured RBGs based on the measured channel qualities, and reports channel quality information associated with the selected RBG to a radio access network, wherein reporting comprises providing an index to the selected RBG and providing channel quality information for the indexed RBG.
