摘要： A point of sale printer includes a magnetic reader for processing transactions and payment by check at a checkout point of a retail establishment. The printer includes a magnetic or MICR reader located at a predetermined point on the printer's document travel path and a print head located at the same point on the document travel path but laterally offset from the MICR reader to allow the printer to print customer receipts and a journal as well as reading MICR information from checks and endorsing the check after it is cleared. A pressure pad is used with the magnetic read head of the MICR reader which utilizes a pressure film which flexes when a document is inserted between the magnetic read head and the pressure film to provide a spring loading force on the magnetic read head while still allowing the document to be moved smoothly past the magnetic read head. A method for processing checks using the printer utilizes bidirectional motion of the check along the document travel path to magnetize the MICR information, read the MICR information and print the endorsement on the check.

摘要： A depletion mode load device structure is disclosed which improved upon the existing Weinberger layout technique, as applied to enhancement mode/depletion mode circuitry. The structure of an FET, self biased load device includes a single metallized vertical line performing three functions: a source contact for the FET device, the gate electrode for the FET device, and the output line for the circuit for which the device serves as the load. Use of this structure results in an increased horizontal circuit packing density, which is particularly useful in the decoder circuits for a programmed logic array.

摘要： A method, apparatus and article of manufacture is disclosed for eliminating periodic noise detected by a magnetic read head. In particular a time varying signal electrical signal is provided by a magnetic read head. The signal is sampled and stored in memory. Samples known not to contain a desired signal are used to extract a waveform representative of a single period of periodic noise. The representative waveform is synchronized with samples containing the desired signal and used to compensate the samples containing the desired signal in order to minimize, reduce, cancel or remove the effects of the periodic noise on samples containing the periodic noise. The compensated samples are then processed to obtain information from the desired signals.
