摘要: The present invention is directed toward a substantially planar business communication assembly that has one or more ablated recesses or depressions which are created through the use of electromagnetic radiation. The assembly preferably includes first and second portions that are joined to one another to form a composite construction. The business form is typically provided with an ablated depression in one of the two portions. The depression has a depth that is sufficient such that when a removable element is placed within the depression the surface of the removable element is substantially planar with the surface of at least one of the surfaces of the portions used to make up the assembly.

摘要: The present invention relates to a discontinuous business form construction created preferably from differential substrates that have been provided with one or more removable elements such as cards, labels, tags and differential substrates. The form construction is desirably a composite form having at least first and second discrete portions or segments one of which carries one or more removable elements and the other of which provides an information carrying portion. The form construction of the present invention is produced in such a manner so that when a series of the forms are placed into a stack, such as in a tray that supplies forms to a printing station or a laser printer, there is no significant pad lean. That is, the stack of forms retains a relatively square, rectangular or cube shaped as opposed to one having a sloped configuration, a high end and a low end, due to differential thicknesses between the two portions of the construction. In addition, the form construction of the present invention enables the feeding of a form along the long side or in the landscape position and reduces the surface affinity between the forms.

摘要: A process for manufacturing and the resulting cylindrical composite container having a recessed spiral groove therein includes generally the following. A mandrel is provided having at least one recessed spiral groove cut into its surface and positioned at a predetermined angle to a longitudinal axis of the mandrel. Desired material layers for constructing the composite container are fed onto the mandrel and are spirally-wound at a winding angle corresponding to the predetermined angle of the spiral groove in the mandrel to form a continuous tube on the mandrel. Pressure is applied at the mandrel spiral groove to the continuous tube as it is being formed to force the material layers into the spiral groove for deforming the material layers to form a spiral groove in the continuous tube. This continuous tube with a spiral groove therein is cut into individual continuous lengths and removed from the mandrel for forming the composite container.

摘要: A packaging system for a printer/copier or other large article that uses less material than conventional packaging systems. In one embodiment the system comprises a pair of elongated foam braces that slide over pairs of vertically oriented corner posts for holding and cushioning the packaged article. In another embodiment the system comprises four foam braces wedged between the four vertical edges of the article and vertical corner posts.

摘要: A multilayer tubular structure for products with an identification device being embedded or interposed between two of the multiple layers of the tubular structure. The identification device is responsive to radio frequencies and is able to store and transmit information about the multilayer tubular structure, the products, and processes that have been performed on same. A method is provided for manufacturing a multilayer tubular structure by embedding a radio frequency identification device between two of the multiple layers.

摘要: A self-venting cartridge (10) for dispensing an extrudable fluid such as ink. The cartridge (10) comprises a cylindrical body (12) for holding the fluid and a plunger (18) for forcing the fluid through a nozzle. The cylindrical body (12) is formed of a wound material and lined internally with a liner material that overlaps itself to form a raised area (34) that is slightly thicker than the surrounding area. The plunger (18) comprises a slightly convex surface (36) and a sidewall (40) that forms a snug fit with the cylindrical body (40). The plunger sidewall (40) and raised area (34) define a channel (A) through which air is automatically vented when the plunger (18) is inserted into the fluid-filled cartridge (10).

摘要: An elevator system, and methods of providing certain functions thereof, wherein an up/down counter provides a count which is used to provide a landing and leveling speed pattern for the elevator car. The counter is preset to a predetermined count prior to entering the landing zone of a target floor, and distance pulses, generated in response to car movement in the landing zone decrement the count when the car moves toward the target floor, and in the event the car overshoots the floor, the distance pulses increment the count while the car is moving away from the floor in the landing zone.

摘要: An elevator system including terminal slowdown control which includes a source which provides a beam of electromagnetic radiation, a receiver of such radiation, and spaced markers disposed in a terminal zone which interrupts the beam of electromagnetic radiation as the elevator car approaches a terminal floor. A monitor circuit monitors the receiver to insure that the beam is continuously received when the elevator car is outside of the terminal zone, and to insure that the receiver detects the spaced markers as the elevator car approaches a terminal floor in the terminal zone. The monitor circuit initiates a procedure which takes the elevator car out of service in the event a malfunction in the terminal slowdown control is detected.
