    摘要: An application server provides communication services via a packet-switched network to mobile nodes based on their respective registrations in a registry, such as a home subscriber server (HSS) or domain name server (DNS). A registration proxy may be used to effect a registration in the registry on behalf of a mobile node when the mobile node lacks sufficient capability to effect the registration itself. The registration proxy may perform this function after receiving a notification that the mobile node is connected to the packet-switched network and after querying a capabilities server to determine that the mobile node lacks sufficient registration capability. To effect a registration in an HSS, the registration proxy may emulate either a serving call state control function (S-CSCF) or user equipment (UE).

    摘要: Methods and systems are provided for use of positioning information to determine whether to trigger a packet-data-network re-registration when detecting multiple radio signals of sufficient strength. A mobile node registers with a first mobility agent, wherein the mobile node communicates with the first mobility agent via a first radio transceiver. The mobile node determines that a first signal strength of a first radio signal from the first radio transceiver and a second signal strength of a second radio signal from a second radio transceiver are each greater than a first threshold and that the second signal strength is greater than the first signal strength, and responsively determines whether or not it is traveling. If the mobile node determines that it is traveling, the mobile node registers with a second mobility agent, wherein the mobile node communicates with the second mobility agent via the second radio transceiver.

    摘要: A method and system for delaying retransmission of data to a wireless terminal in response to a determination that a communication path to the wireless terminal does not currently exist. For instance, when a server, e.g., a proxy server or an application server, sends data to a cellular base station for transmission to a wireless terminal, the base station could determine that a radio link to the wireless terminal is not currently available. In order to prevent the server from continuously retransmitting the data to the base station due to the absence of an acknowledgement from the wireless terminal, the base station can notify the server to delay retransmission. A benefit of this arrangement is that the base station will not have to receive and buffer many copies of the same data while the base station waits for a communication path to the wireless terminal to become available.

    摘要: An originating mobile station seeks to establish a push-to-talk (PTT) communication session with a destination mobile station. To do this, the originating mobile station transmits a first request message that requests the PTT session. Before receiving a predefined indication that the requested PTT session has been accepted, the originating mobile station transmits a first continuation message that includes first session description information to facilitate establishment of the PTT session. A PTT server receives the first request message and, before receiving the first continuation message, transmits to the destination mobile station a second request message that requests the PTT session. The PTT server then transmits a second continuation message that includes second session description information. The destination mobile station receives the second request message and, before receiving the second continuation message, transmits an acceptance message indicating acceptance of the requested PTT session.
