    摘要: A long retracting sootblower for boiler cleaning of the type having a lance tube which is advanced into and out of a boiler and simultaneously rotated, and having one or more nozzles discharging a jet of blowing medium which trace helical paths. An indexing mechanism is provided to change the positioning of the helical paths traced by the nozzles between successive actuation cycles to minimize boiler erosion and mechanical stress caused by repeated blowing medium impact against surfaces within the boiler. the indexing mechanism includes relatively slidable longitudinal advancement rack sections which cause the engaging pinion gears to index by one or more teeth upon each actuation cycle. A movable rack portion is biased by a compliant element to remain in a normal position until initial advancement of the lance carriage which causes the movable portion to be indexed with respect to the fixed portion of the rack. The movable rack portion returns to its normal position during other periods of the actuation cycle thereby providing said indexing.

    摘要: An electromagnetic hammer rapper having forward and retract coils for controllably causing a centrally disposed armature to impact an impact transfer pin to cause the transfer pin to knock-off slag and other encrustations from heat transfer tubes or walls of heat exchanger components, and for causing the armature to be propelled to a retracted position. An electrical circuit for controlling energization of the forward and retract coils is also provided and includes a manually actuatable switch for initiating an impact between the armature and the transfer pin. An auto sequencer/manual selector circuit controls the forward and retract coils of a plurality of electromagnetic solenoids. A phase detection and triggering circuit having an operator adjustable phase control controls the duration for which the forward coil of each electromagnetic solenoid is energized. An independent logic circuit associated with each electromagnetic solenoid is also included for further helping to control the energization of the forward and retract coils. An SCR and a triac each associated with a specific logic circuit and responsive to the logic circuit are included for controlling energization of the forward and retract coils of each electromagnetic solenoid.

    摘要: A vacuum sealing device includes a plug which is thrust into the port of an insulated steam injection tubing for closing an annular space of the tubing which confines a vacuum. The plug is mounted for movement within a first mounting element and for movement within a bellows having an end connected to the first mounting element. A second mounting element is connected to the opposite end of the bellows and carries a rod which is fixed to the plug. By moving the two mounting elements together, the bellows is compressed and the plug is thrust by movement of the rod. The first mounting element is connected to an upper clamping section which cooperates with a lower clamping section to engage around a tubular to be plugged. The upper section can be correctly centered with its plug over the port of the tubular by momentarily compressing the bellows to extend the plug. The plug is provided with a shank portion and a breakable tab for breaking the plug away from the shank portion. The shank portion is connected to the rod so that after the plug is seated in the port the rod, its mounting elements and the clamp section can be removed from the insulated steam injection tubing.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for providing low gloss and controlled gloss radiation cured coatings, and for effecting on-line control of the degree of gloss provided. A radiation-curable coating of a composition which includes inert particulates is first irradiated with curing radiation of wavelengths to which the coating is responsive but having substantially no distribution beneath about 300 nm, and is subsequently irradiated with curing radiation of wavelengths to which the coating is responsive including substantial radiation at wavelengths beneath 300 nm. Gloss control is obtained by adjusting the spectral distribution, the intensity, or the dose of the initial radiation, or by adjusting the time interval between the initial and subsequent irradiation steps.

    摘要: A snubber cartridge assembly is mounted to the nozzle of a control rod drive mechanism to insure that the snubber assembly will be located within the liquid filled section of a nuclear reactor vessel whenever the control rod drive is assembled thereto. The snubber assembly includes a piston mounted proximate to the control rod connecting end of the control rod drive leadscrew to allow the piston to travel within the liquid filled snubber cartridge and controllably exhaust liquid therefrom during a "scram" condition. The snubber cartridge provides three separate areas of increasing resistance to piston travel to insure a speedy but safe "scram" of the control rod into the reactor.
