Abstract:
A tiltable metallurgical vessel having a carrying ring at least partially around it. A metallurgical supporting bracket fastened on the metallurgical vessel rests on the ring. The vessel is releasably fixed on the support ring by a clamping device actuated by a pressure-medium cylinder. The clamping means interacts with a locking bracket fastened on the vessel. The clamping device moves between a release position, releasing it from the locking bracket and clamping position, clamping the locking bracket together with the support ring, The clamping device comprises a housing, a clamping anchor, a pivot lever and a pressure-medium cylinder, which acts on the pivot lever. The clamping anchor is guided in a pivotable manner in a guide means in the housing. The anchor is pivotably articulated on a pivotable lever, and the pivot lever is supported in a pivotable manner in the housing.
Abstract:
An automotive hinge adapted to facilitate removable attachment of a closure panel to a body structure comprises a door component comprising upper and lower door component pivot arms adapted to be mounted to a vehicular closure panel, a body component comprising upper and lower body component pivot doors adapted to be mounted to a vehicular body structure, a common pivot axis around which the door component and body component are adapted to rotate in relation to each other, and a cylindrical protrusion adapted to be coaxially aligned with the pivot axis and structurally attached to and extended above the upper pivot arm of the body component, such that the door component is adapted to interleave over the body component, dimensionally locating the closure panel and the body structure by means of an external cylindrical bearing surface on the cylindrical protrusion, and is adapted to be held in assembly by means of a pivot pin which is adapted to extend through both said pivot arms of both said hinge components to create a fully structural, double hung pivot joint.
Abstract:
A seat adjuster comprising a system of linkages utilizing the effect of a compensating primary link which compensates for the normally uncompensated arcuate motion of the primary links. The links are attached to the riser, or the seat bottom and cooperate with each other in motion through the compensating link which is attached to the riser if the links are attached to the seat bottom and vice versa. The motion of the compensating link combines with the motion of the primary links to provide a substantially linear fore and aft motion to the seat.
Abstract:
A check or stop for a moveable member, the check or stop comprising actuated means actuated by the moveable member, or alternatively by seperate actuating means, the actuated means being either fastened with the moveable member or being integral with the moveable member, automatic switching means to control the checking and release of the actuated means and the moveable member, the moveable member being moveable from a first state, wherein the moveable member is substantially static, checked, and exhibits a first value for a predetermined characteristic of the actuated means, to a second state wherein the moveable member is substantially in motion, unchecked, and exhibits a second value of the predetermined characteristic of the actuated means, the value of the predetermined characteristic of the actuated means being available to the automatic switching means, wherein when the moveable member is in a static state the first value of the predetermined characteristic available to the automatic switching means provides checking of the actuated means and the motion of the moveable member, wherein when the moveable member is substantially in motion the second value of the predetermined characteristic available to the automatic switching means provides release of the actuated means and the moveable member to allow ease of movement thereof.
Abstract:
A method is provided which forms a closed section hollow structural element by performing the following steps which include press forming an upper sheet metal component configured with two primary parallel downstanding interface flanges; press forming a lower sheet metal component configured with two primary parallel upstanding interface flanges; complementarily trimming the downstanding interface flanges and the upstanding interface flanges using five-axis laser cutting; and butt welding the interface flanges of the upper and lower sheet metal components to one another to form a continuous hollow structural element of variable cross section.
Abstract:
A bumper for a closure, such as a tailgate, acts between the tailgate and a frame to bias a striker in to engagement with a latch. The bumper is moved to a retracted position during closing to reduce the force needed to close the tailgate. After latching, the bumper is conditioned to an extended position to assert the bias between the tailgate and frame.
Abstract:
A vehicular structural member is provided from a closed section hollow element that utilizes a conventional clamshell configuration but eliminates the overlapped joint of the prior art. It has been proven that for large volume applications such as those dictated by the automotive industry, sheet metal press forming is the most cost-effective method of manufacturing structural components. The present disclosure eliminates the redundant material associated with overlapping or flange type joints in clamshell closed section hollow elements thereby reducing weight and cost.
