摘要: A catheter assembly which has a distal end adapted for insertion into a living body and a proximal end adapted to remain external to said body or a cable for use in such an assembly includes a cylindrical surface on which are inscribed a plurality of markings. Each of the markings indicates one of the specific locations within the living body at which the distal end may be placed during insertion. The markings are positioned at spaced intervals around the circumference of the cylindrical surface. A sleeve is rotatably and/or axially movable around the cylindrical surface, the sleeve being provided with at least one window adapted to be moved into alignment with a selected one of the markings.

摘要: Devices, systems, and methods for ultrasonically acquiring far-field and near-field images within a body are disclosed. An ultrasound imaging device adapted for insertion within a body includes a first ultrasonic sensor configured to transmit ultrasonic waves at a first frequency for acquiring far-field images within the body, and a second ultrasonic sensor configured to transmit ultrasonic waves at a higher frequency than the first frequency for acquiring near-field images within the body. The ultrasound imaging device can be connected to a control device and user interface for visualizing far-field and near-field images acquired by the ultrasonic sensors.

摘要: A digital paper-enabled product includes digital paper with a digital pattern that spatially cooperates with one or more features or boundaries printed on the pattern. More specifically, a system cooperating with the product may include spatial information systems that manage the features or boundaries and communicates with a writing instrument that was used to effect changes to the digital paper-enabled product. In one embodiment, the digital paper-enabled product may take the form of a sheet of digital paper bearing a digital pattern and where action icons (e.g. user intended actions) and/or features (e.g. such as map features) or a spatial reference frame are printed onto the digital pattern and where at least one action palette is printed onto the digital pattern, correlated therewith, and usable to effect changes to the product. Other embodiments include a method of making the digital-enabled product, a method of processing information obtained from the digital paper-enabled product, and a method of using the digital paper-enabled product.

摘要: A hand-holdable, durable digital writing and sketching device or assembly having rugged construction that houses an on-board camera with a view through an optical window of a writing surface brought in view by a user moving the device. The device is rugged, sealed, and is capable of withstanding dropping, water submersion, abrasive incursions, and resistance to chemical and fungal degradation. The optical window and optic channel to the camera is protected by a durable and replaceable light-transmitting shield that provides a sealed barrier to the environmental elements harmful to the functioning of the device. The writing and sketching device oscillates between a stowed and a deployed state. The deployed state includes the camera being in view the writing surface and the stowed state includes the camera being either masked from viewing the writing surface or aimed internally from viewing the writing surface. Other versions of the digital writing and sketching device include replaceable styli and pens that are removable and interchangeable with a sealed chamber in the device. The stylus point or pen ends are substantially in view of the on-board device camera. Signal transmissions communicated from the digital writing and sketching device convey pressures experienced by the inserted stylus or pens and are represented in proportion to a microprocessor based display that conveys changing field of view experienced by the on-board camera.

摘要: The system and method as described herein can be advantageously used in a plurality of scenarios, two of which include field markup and data collection and collaborative review. The system and method handles the allocation of digital paper pattern background and the creation of required page definition files embedded into digital paper enabled PDFs. Optionally, action palettes can be automatically overlaid on the drawings as legend boxes to enable field personnel to select the operations they want to perform on the digital paper as they would on a computer interface. For instance letting users select the types of callouts and clouds to add to their markup. These drawings can be printed or plotted onto paper and sent to a work site for markup.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods to provide tools enhance the tactical or strategic situation awareness of on-scene and remotely located personnel involved with the surveillance of a region-of-interest using field-of-view sensory augmentation tools. The sensory augmentation tools provide updated, visual, text, audio, and graphic information associated with the region-of-interest adjusted for the positional frame of reference of the on-scene or remote personnel viewing the region-of-interest, map, document or other surface. Annotations and augmented reality graphics projected onto and positionally registered with objects or regions-of-interest visible within the field of view of a user looking through a see through monitor may select the projected graphics for editing and manipulation by sensory feedback from the viewer.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for magnetically and mechanically navigating catheters. The system comprises a catheter that includes an elongated flexible catheter body having a distal end configured to be mechanically actuated to assume a non-compliant curved geometry. The distal end can be mechanically actuated in one of any number of manners. The catheter further comprises a magnetically responsive element and an operative element carried by the distal catheter end. The system further comprises a magnetic navigation system configured for applying a magnetic force to the magnetic element to deflect the distal catheter end. A method of using the system may comprise introducing the catheter within an anatomical cavity, mechanically actuating the distal catheter end to assume the curved geometry within the anatomical cavity, placing the operative element adjacent a target tissue site within the anatomical cavity, and performing a medical procedure on the target tissue site with the operative element. The magnetic navigation system can be used during catheter navigation and/or to firmly place the operative element against the target tissue site.
