摘要: There is provided an image reading apparatus that can read a plurality of images without troublesome operations by a user, in which a small-size light source with a small electric power consumption is used as an illumination light source used for reading an image of a transparent original. A surface illumination light source having a size large enough to illuminate one image among a plurality of images included in a transparent original is moved sequentially to positions at which the illumination light source can illuminate the respective images. Each image is read while the illumination light source is kept stationary at the position of the image. In addition, at the position of each image, the transparent original is pressed against an original table of the image reading apparatus.

摘要: In an image reading apparatus for reading a transparent original, the object of the present invention is to obtain a high-quality read image from which dust or scratch is removed. In order to achieve this object, in the image reading apparatus for reading the transparent original, a transparent original illumination unit has the first and second surfaces on the same side. On the first surface, at least one light source for emitting light in at least a visible range is arranged. On the second surface, at least one light source including a plurality of infrared light sources arrayed in series to emit light in an infrared range is arranged. The first and second surfaces are arranged at positions different from an effective light-emitting region, and includes a light guide plate and reflecting sheet for substantially uniformly emitting incident light from the same side portion to an entire surface.

摘要: An image reading apparatus configured to read a document positioned on a document positioning plate includes an apparatus body, the document positioning plate mounted on the apparatus body, a document cover configured to press the document against the document positioning plate, a hinge member attached to the document cover and rotatably attached to the apparatus body, and a switch member engaging with the hinge member and configured to restrict a rotation angle of the hinge member. The switch member is located on a same side as a side of the document positioning plate of the apparatus body and is configured to restrict, at a first position thereof, the rotation angle to a first open angle and to release, at a second position thereof, the rotation angle from being restricted to the first open angle.
