摘要： There is provided an image reading apparatus that can read a plurality of images without troublesome operations by a user, in which a small-size light source with a small electric power consumption is used as an illumination light source used for reading an image of a transparent original. A surface illumination light source having a size large enough to illuminate one image among a plurality of images included in a transparent original is moved sequentially to positions at which the illumination light source can illuminate the respective images. Each image is read while the illumination light source is kept stationary at the position of the image. In addition, at the position of each image, the transparent original is pressed against an original table of the image reading apparatus.

The predicting module predicts the image compression rate of an image after being processed according to the image processing mode set by the control unit.

The sheet stapling apparatus can execute a first bending process for bending the feet of a staple which were pierced through the sheets to the inside and a second bending process for bending the feet of the staple which were pierced through the sheets to the outside. In the facsimile mode or the printer mode, the second bending process is executed.

摘要： An image scanning apparatus is capable of successively scanning a plurality of documents arranged on a document plate in an efficient manner by moving a sensor unit over the documents in a sub-scanning direction. When the plurality of documents arranged on the document plate is scanned, the motion of the sensor unit is selectively controlled in such a manner that after completion of scanning one document, the sensor unit is returned to its home position before starting scanning a next document, the sensor unit is temporarily stopped before starting scanning the next document, or the sensor unit is moved backward by a particular distance before starting scanning the next document.
