Abstract: A thermoplastic composition includes: 40 to 75 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane-arylate); 5 to 45 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) present in an amount effective to provide 0.75 to 7 wt % of siloxane units; 10 to 40 wt % of a polycarbonate homopolymer; 5 to 15 wt % of an organophosphorus compound in an amount effective to provide 0.1 to 1 wt % of phosphorus; and optionally, 0.1 to 10 wt % of an additive composition. The thermoplastic composition has a melt volume flow rate of greater than 6 cm3/10 min. An article molded from the thermoplastic composition has a 2-minute integrated heat release rate of less than or equal to 65 kW-min/m2 and a peak heat release rate of less than 65 kW/m2 and a notched Izod impact resistance of greater than 30 kJ/m2 or greater than 700 J/m2.

Abstract: A polyisoindolinone includes 1-100 mole percent of isoindolinone ether ketone units of the formula A; and 0-99 mole percent of arylene ether ketone units of the formula B wherein the variables are as defined herein; and wherein when the polyisoindolinone is a poly(isoindolinone ether ether ketone), it has a least one, preferably at least two, preferably all of the following properties: a glass transition temperature greater than 150° C., or 150-270° C. as determined by differential scanning calorimetry, less than 25 weight percent solubility at 23° C. in dichloromethane, orthodichlorobenzene, or chloroform, or substantially no blue phosphorescence in response to irradiation with ultraviolet light of 320-400 nm.

Abstract: A copolycarbonate comprises first repeating units, second repeating units different from the first repeating units, and third repeating units different from the first and second repeating units; and wherein the first repeating units are phthalimidine carbonate units, the second repeating units are carbonate units of the formula (I) wherein Rc and Rd are each independently a C1-12 alkyl, C2-12 alkenyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, or C1-12 alkoxy, each R6 is independently C1-3 alkyl or phenyl; Xa is a C6-12 polycyclic aryl, C3-18 mono- or polycycloalkylene, C3-18 mono- or polycycloalkylidene, -(Q1)x-G-(Q2)y- group wherein Q1 and Q2 are each independently a C1-3 alkylene, G is a C3-10 cycloalkylene, x is 0 or 1, and y is 1; and m and n are each independently 0 to 4; and the third repeating units are carbonate units (II) wherein Re and Rf are each independently C1-12 alkyl, C2-12 alkenyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, or C1-12 alkoxy, a and b are each independently integers of 0 to 4, and Xb is a single bond, —0—, —S—, —S(0)-, —S(0)2—, —C(0)—, or C1-32 bridging hydrocarbon group, provided that Xb is not a phthalimidine group or Xa.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods that includes using a water-degradable (e.g., autoclavable) support material together with a high-heat build material (e.g., polyetherimide or PEI). When the support material is autoclaved for a period of time, the support material becomes brittle and then disintegrates into powder and therefore can be removed from the model or build material, leaving behind a part formed from the model material that includes features (e.g., cavities, channels, etc.) formerly occupied by the support material.
