Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for operating a list Viterbi decoder. A path metric difference (PMD) threshold is set based on an input signal level and a PMD limit value. Decoding is performed by using the PMD threshold. Performing the decoding includes determining a PMD of a best path, comparing the determined PMD and the PMD threshold, and declaring a decoding failure and ending performing of the decoding, if the PMD is greater than or equal to the PMD threshold.

Abstract: An electronic device and a method of operating the electronic device in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes determining whether to perform a partial decoding or a normal decoding based on a channel quality; if partial decoding is performed, decoding partial data received by a transceiver from a second electronic device during a part one TTI; when the decoding of the partial data succeeds, performing at least one complementary decoding until a decoding success count reaches a decoding threshold; and when the decoding success count reaches the decoding threshold, outputting a decoding result for the at least one complementary decoding; and if normal decoding is performed, decoding all data of the one TTI and outputting a result. One of the at least one complementary decoding comprises decoding previous data, and additional data received by the transceiver during an additional part of the one TTI, after the previous data.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for determining a downlink control indicator (DCI) at a receiver. A signal is received at the receiver. The receiver measures channel quality based on the received signal. Signals of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) areas that correspond to each channel format indicator (CFI) in the received signal are decoded, if a measurement of the channel quality is not a configuration condition. The receiver obtains the CFI by decoding a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH) of the received signal, if the measurement of the channel quality is the configuration condition. The receiver determines the DCI based on the decoded signals.

Abstract: A method is provided for operating a radio frequency (RF) receiver including a transimpedance amplifier, a capacitor selectively connected in parallel with the transimpedance amplifier, a channel selection filter unit connected to an output terminal of the transimpedance amplifier, and a variable gain amplification unit selectively connected in parallel with the channel selection filter unit. The method includes measuring signal-to-noise ratio from an output of the RF receiver, and comparing the measured signal-to-noise ratio with a reference signal-to-noise ratio. When the measured signal-to-noise ratio is greater than the reference signal-to-noise ratio, the capacitor is electrically disconnected from being connected in parallel with the transimpedance amplifier and a variation in the measured signal-to-noise ratio is measured. When the measured variation is in tolerance, the channel selection filter is bypassed to select the variable gain amplification unit.
