    Abstract: The present disclosure provides power supply apparatuses and controlling methods thereof. In some embodiments, a power supply apparatus includes a power factor correction (PFC) circuit, and a control circuit configured to control the PFC circuit. The PFC circuit includes a power inputter configured to receive alternating current voltage to be rectified, an inductor having an end coupled to an end of the power inputter, a first switching element configured to be turned on and off according to a first control signal, a second switching element configured to be turned on and off according to a second control signal, and an outputter configured to output a direct current voltage through an output capacitor. The control circuit is further configured to respectively apply the first and second control signals to the first and second switching elements such that the first and the second switching elements are alternately turned on.

    Abstract: An electronic apparatus is provided. The electronic apparatus includes: a main circuit; and a power supply circuit configured to receive external power from an external power supply and supply operating power to the main circuit. The power supply circuit includes: a converter; and a lightning protection circuit that includes: a varistor configured to have a first rated voltage corresponding to a breakdown voltage of a device of the converter; and a surge arrester connected in series to the varistor and configured to have a second rated voltage, and based on the external power being higher than the first rated voltage of the varistor, the varistor is clamped so that a voltage applied to the converter does not exceed the first rated voltage, and based on a voltage applied to the surge arrester being equal to or higher than the second rated voltage, the surge arrester is short-circuited.

    Abstract: A power supply capable of protecting a rectifier circuit using a switching element from an overvoltage or an overcurrent is provided. The power supply includes a power input terminal; an output capacitor; a synchronous rectifier configured to rectify an AC voltage input through the power input terminal; a converter configured to convert the rectified AC voltage into a DC voltage following a preset voltage and supply the DC voltage to the output capacitor; and a protection circuit provided between the power input terminal and the output capacitor, and configured to supply an AC voltage higher than the voltage charged in the output capacitor to the output capacitor by bypassing the synchronous rectifier.
