Abstract: A storage system performing an overwrite, a host system controlling the storage system, and an operating method of the storage system, wherein the storage system includes a memory device; and a controller that receives new data and an overwrite request from the host system, wherein the overwrite request includes a first logical address for old data and a second logical address for the new data, and performs an overwrite operation by writing the new data corresponding to the second logical address to the memory device and invalidating the old data corresponding to the first logical address according to the overwrite request.

Abstract: A method of operating a storage device including a nonvolatile memory, the method including: generating virtual domains each of which including page mapping and block mapping tables; receiving a data input/output (I/O) request; performing a data I/O operation corresponding to the data I/O request using the virtual domains; transmitting a data I/O response to a host device in response to the data I/O request and the data I/O operation; and changing at least one of the virtual domains based on a direct request from the host device or a change in a first parameter associated with the data I/O request, and wherein, in response to the first parameter being changed, a second parameter associated with the data I/O response is changed by changing at least one of the virtual domains and by performing the data I/O operation using the changed virtual domain.

Abstract: A storage device including: a nonvolatile memory device including a plurality of nonvolatile memory cells, a partial storage area and an overprovision storage area; and a controller configured to control the nonvolatile memory device, wherein when the controller detects a fault of the nonvolatile memory device, the controller negates the partial storage area, reassigns the overprovision storage area, which corresponds to a size of a user area, among the partial storage area, determines a device fail if the overprovision storage area is less than an overprovision threshold after the reassigning of the partial storage area, and determines a recovery success if the overprovision storage area is equal to or greater than the overprovision threshold after the reassigning of the partial storage area.
