Abstract:
A method for sampling a downhole formation fluid includes pumping formation fluid into the flowline of a downhole sampling tool While pumping, a saturation pressure of the formation fluid is measured. The pumping rate is adjusted such that the fluid pressure in the flowline remains above a threshold saturation pressure.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus of adjusting matrix acidizing procedures are disclosed. An example method includes determining parameters of a wellbore fluid during a matrix acidizing procedure using at least a first sensor and a second sensor. The parameters include velocity of the wellbore fluid and a temperature difference between the first sensor and the second sensor. The method also includes, based on the parameters, determining a characteristic relative to an invasion length of a reactive fluid within the formation, the reactive fluid used in association with the matrix acidizing procedure.
Abstract:
A method for sampling a downhole formation fluid includes pumping formation fluid into the flowline of a downhole sampling tool, measuring a saturation pressure of the formation fluid in the flowline while pumping, and adjusting the pumping rate such that the fluid pressure in the flowline remains within a predetermined threshold above the measured saturation pressure.
Abstract:
A measurement device is configured in a shaped charge package to be utilized in a perforating gun section tool string. The measurement device may include for example thermal conductivity detectors (TCD) configured to measure fluid flow velocity and/or thermal characteristics of the flowing fluid. The measurement device may include for example a pair laterally spaced TCDs each having sensor faces positioned co-planar with a surface across which the fluid flows. The measurement device may include a recessed TCD, having a sensor face recessed below an opening in the exterior surface.
Abstract:
Example methods and apparatus for determining downhole parameters are disclosed herein. An example method includes pumping a fluid in a first direction to substantially fill a first area of a fluid flow passageway with the fluid and determining a fluid parameter via a sensor disposed in a second area adjacent the first area. The sensor includes a heater and a temperature sensor. The example method also includes determining if the first fluid has flowed in a second direction into the second area based on the fluid parameter.

Apparatus and methods for determining downhole fluid parameters are disclosed herein. An example method includes disposing a sensor in a fluid in a wellbore. The sensor includes a heater and a temperature sensor, and the fluid is flowing at a velocity of about zero centimeters per second to about ten centimeters per second. The fluid includes particulates, paraffin or asphaltenes. The example method further includes obtaining a first measurement via the heater and obtaining a second measurement via the temperature sensor. Based on the first measurement and the second measurement, the velocity of the fluid is determined.

Example methods and apparatus for analyzing operations are disclosed herein. An example method includes disposing a sensor in a fluid flow passageway. The sensor has a heater and a temperature sensor. The example method further includes obtaining a first response of the sensor to a fluid flowing in the fluid flow passageway and transmitting a signal to a tool to operate the tool. Operation of the tool is to affect a fluid parameter of the fluid. The example method also includes obtaining a second response of the sensor to the fluid flowing in the fluid flow passageway and determining if the tool has operated based on the first response and the second response.
