Abstract: A printing apparatus includes: an attachment unit configured to enable a medium support portion to be attached and detached, the medium support portion including a support face; a head; a first movement unit configured to move the head; a second movement unit configured to move the head; a control unit configured to control the first movement unit and the second movement unit; an input unit; and a notification unit. The head is configured to move to an opposed region in which the head is opposed to the support face. When a movement instruction is inputted into the input unit, the notification unit gives notification that prompts the user to detach the medium support portion, and the control unit causes the head to move from a standby position to a cleaning position, a portion of or whole of the cleaning position being included in the opposed region.

Abstract: A medium support device includes: a first support section that transits between a first position and a second position relative to a main body; a second support section that transits between a retracted position and a protruding position relative to the first support section; and a locking mechanism configured to set a lock the second support section. When the first support section is in the first position and the second support section is retracted into the first support section, the retracted state is formed. When the first support section is in the second position and the second support section protrudes from the first support, the extended state is formed.
