Abstract: A valve mechanism includes a housing, a plate-shaped valve body, a valve positioning member, and a drive valve moving mechanism. The valve positioning member causes the valve body to face the valve seat via a predetermined gap with respect to the valve seat. The drive valve moving mechanism causes the gap between an inner circumference of the valve body and the valve seat to be variable by moving the drive valve in a direction of approaching the valve seat and elastically deforming the valve body in a direction that the inner circumference of the valve body approaches the valve seat.

Abstract: A hydraulic shock absorber includes a control valve. The control valve includes a valve seat formed with a closing face, a valve body configured to come into contact with the closing face, and a valve shaft configured to transmit an operation force applied from a driving unit to the valve body. The control valve is defined with an upstream side flow channel extending from an inlet coupled to the upper end opening, via a space in which the valve body moves, to the closing face, and a downstream side flow channel extending from the closing face to an outlet. The control valve is disposed above the cylinder so that a central axis of the valve shaft is inclined relative to a central axis of the vehicle body side tube and the wheel side tube.

Abstract: A damping-force generating device included in a shock absorber includes: a main valve that opens and closes for controlling a flow of oil (working fluid) caused by sliding of a piston in a cylinder and thereby generates a damping force; a first pressure chamber and a second pressure chamber separated by the main valve; a compression-side inlet check valve and an extension-side inlet check valve that allow only inflow of the oil into the first pressure chamber; and a compression-side outlet check valve and an extension-side outlet check valve that allow only outflow of the oil from the second pressure chamber. The first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber are formed in a substantially double-ring structure.

Abstract: A shock absorber includes: a valve body; a valve seat; an actuator; and a fail-safe valve that is urged by a first elastic body. When fluid does not flow, the fail-safe valve is urged by the first elastic body to come into contact with the valve body and close a channel. When the fluid flows, the fail-safe valve is spaced from the valve body by a fluid pressure to open the channel. When the valve body moves most in a valve opening direction, the fail-safe valve is brought into contact with the valve body and the channel is closed, and a supporting portion supports a part of the fail-safe valve. When the fluid flows in this state, at least a part of the fail-safe valve, which is in contact with a non-supporting portion, is spaced from the valve body by the fluid pressure to open the channel.

Abstract: A damping force generating apparatus of a shock absorber includes a main flow path through which a working fluid flows, a main valve which generates a damping force by controlling the flow of the working fluid by opening and closing the main flow path, a pilot chamber into which the working fluid branched from the main flow path flows and which applies an internal pressure in a valve closing direction to the main valve by a pressure of the working fluid, and a pilot flow path to which the working fluid flows out from the pilot chamber. In addition, a jet stream which is generated in a flow path narrowed by the main valve in the main flow path joins the flow of the working fluid which flows out from the pilot chamber via the pilot flow path.
