    Abstract: A device (100) and a method for cooling a knife-bearing element (102.1, 102.2) of a cross-cutting shear (103), which is in particular installed in a hot rolling mill, are described. When the knife-bearing element (102.1, 102.2) is at standstill, at least one guard device (105) is positioned in a cooling position (K) between the knife-bearing element (102.1, 102.2) and a roll strip (101) running continually through the roller mill, such that a side of the knife-bearing element (102.1, 102.2) opposite the roll strip is shielded by the guard device (105).

    Abstract: A method for cutting a cast strand or intermediate strip using shears. In order to facilitate improved rolling of the section having significantly reduced thickness, the method according has the following steps: a) bringing part of the completely solidified cast strand or intermediate strip in the conveying direction (F) of the cast strand or intermediate strip in front of the shears; b) placing a first blade of the shears onto the one surface of the cast strand or intermediate strip and placing a second blade of the shears onto the other surface of the cast strand or intermediate strip and performing a cut by carrying out a relative movement of the two blades, wherein at least one of the blades is in a pushed-forward position; c) upset forging or upset forging with stamping a wedge-shaped contour on the end of the cast strand.

    Abstract: A method and a device for guiding and centering a metallic rolling stock in a rolling mill having at least one assembly that is arranged in a rolling line and at least one rolling mill stand for shaping the rolling stock are disclosed. The method includes the use of lateral guide means, which exert a lateral force onto the moving rolling stock at different locations of the rolling line, wherein the method further includes the process of centering the inflow of the rolling stock ahead of a first assembly and/or ahead of a first rolling mill stand of the rolling mill using first lateral guide means and the process of aligning rolling stock downstream transversely to the rolling line using second lateral guide means, wherein the process of centering the inflow includes a funnel-shaped, flat guiding of the rolling stock and a point-shaped guiding of the rolling stock.
