Abstract: 1,082,767. Nozzles. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. Aug. 5, 1965 [Aug. 7, 1964], No. 33563/65. Heading B2F. A nozzle for use in de-scaling apparatus is adapted to produce an elongated discharge and includes a baffle or guide device 30 formed of a hollow tube having a tapered lower end 31T and supporting a vane unit 32 at its upper end. The tapered end 31T of the device is adapted to seat on the tapered surface (120T) of a nozzle (15), Fig. 4 (not shown) when the device, which helps to stabilize the discharge, is inserted in the nozzle. A snap ring 31R aids the mounting of the device. A plurality of the nozzles is mounted adjustably in opposed pipes (12), (14), Fig. 1 (not shown) and the upper end of each nozzle is provided with an extension into the respective pipe in the form of a strainer (24) having slotted walls (1245), Fig. 4. The nozzle (15) is provided with an elongated outlet (205) and the vane unit 32 is cruciform in cross-section and formed of plate-like arms which extend partially into the device.

Abstract: 990,853. Spray - producers. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. Jan. 28, 1964 [June 17, 1963], No. 3576/64. Heading B2F. A spray head 20 for a paint spray gun comprises an elongated body 21 having a longitudinal passage 22 extending axially thereof, a generally cylindrical member 26 disposed within said body for rotation about an axis substantially at right angles to said passage between a spraying position, Fig. 1, and a cleaning position in which the member 26 is rotated through 180 degrees, said member being provided with a diametric bore 35 adapted to be aligned with said longitudinal passage in both of said positions, and a lock nut 56 arranged to hold a spray orifice member 36 within said bore. The opening 38 through which the spray passes is sufficiently large to allow removal of the nut 56 and the member 36 when the member 26 is in the cleaning position. Alternatively the nozzle may be cleaned by a reverse flow of paint &c. through the orifice member. The member 26 is rotatable between stops by a handle 28 and the orifice member 36 may be replaced by one of different capacity located at a selected position within said bore, Fig. 2 (not shown). In the embodiments of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the orifice member is mounted in an adapter ring or tip holder.

Abstract: 1,009,184. Spray-producers. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. May 30; 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 21666/63. Heading B2F. In a trigger operated airless paint spray gun 22, Fig. 1, the trigger 25 may be rendered inoperative by rotating a member 54 such that it presents a stop surface to the trigger side walls 25s, Figs. 7, 9. The gun is also characterized in that a valve seat member 40, Fig. 2, located in the barrel 21 and engageable by a needle-valve carried by a trigger operable rod 24 is shaped to form an oval discharge orifice 42, Fig. 4, such that when the spray tip 23 is removed for cleaning &c. any pressurized paint escaping from the gun is caused to diverge into a spray-like form rather than emerge as a solid stream. The pressurized paint enters the barrel 21 through a nipple_45 a suitable packing gland 46 being provided to seal the entry point of the rod 24, Fig. 7. The latter is secured to the trigger 25 through a nut 49, such that actuating movement of the trigger when the member 54 has been rotated to remove the stop surface, Fig. 8, withdraws the needle-valve from the valve seat member 40 against the action of a spring 57, a U- shaped member 48 and plunger 56 being attached to the trigger for this purpose. The amount of withdrawal movement and tensioning of the spring 57 is adjustable by a rotatable plug 55. (For Figures see next page)
