摘要： There is disclosed an improved spray tip for airless spraying of liquids in which the spray orifice is mounted in a rotatable turret member which is captured in a subassembly of a plastic spray guard and a tubular metal housing. The housing has a longitudinal through passageway which receives a floating piston seal member that has a forward, cylindrically concave face which is urged into a tight seal against the rotatable turret member by the liquid pressure which acts on the upstream face of the floating piston seal member. The floating piston seal member is sealed in the longitudinal through passageway by an annular seal which also restrains the turret member against rotation when the liquid pressure is released, thereby freely permitting substitution of spray orifices by interchanging of turret members. The turret member includes a handle with a dependent prong which is received through a slotted aperture of the spray guard into an internal cavity of the spray guard body having one side wall with shoulders which provide abutment stops for the turret member, thereby aligning its transverse bore with the longitudinal passageway through the housing.

摘要： There is provided a reversible spray tip of the type used with a spray device adapted for hydraulically atomizing and spraying liquids, the reversible spray tip includes a rotatable member mounted in the spray tip housing having a diametric bore therethrough terminating in a spray opening, the housing includes an axial bore communicating between the fluid passageway of the spray device and the diametric bore of the rotatable member, a sealing member is mounted in the axial bore of the housing and is provided with an axial fluid bore therethrough communicating between the fluid passageway of the spray device and the diametric bore of the rotatable member, the sealing member includes a resilient sealing washer disposed between the nozzle housing and the sealing face of the spray device. The sealing washer is undercut in the internal sidewall at the inlet end thereof so as to form an annular skirt abutting the sealing face of the spray device. This annular skirt is urged against the sealing face of the spray device by the high pressure fluid in the spray nozzle.

摘要： A reversible airless nozzle for a spray gun comprises an adapter mounted on a forward end of the gun, a filter in the adapter and an airless spray tip captured between the adapter and a safety cap. Should a small outlet orifice from the spray tip become plugged, it may be cleared by inserting the spray tip into the forward end of the adapter in the direction reverse to that for normal spraying, and then briefly triggering the spray gun to eject the blockage. The spray tip is carried in a housing adapted for a snug fit into the forward end of the adapter during cleaning, and an insert in the housing prevents the spray tip from being forced from the housing when reverse hydraulic pressures are applied.

A spray head 20 for a paint spray gun comprises an elongated body 21 having a longitudinal passage 22 extending axially thereof, a generally cylindrical member 26 disposed within said body for rotation about an axis substantially at right angles to said passage between a spraying position, Fig. 1, and a cleaning position in which the member 26 is rotated through 180 degrees, said member being provided with a diametric bore 35 adapted to be aligned with said longitudinal passage in both of said positions, and a lock nut 56 arranged to hold a spray orifice member 36 within said bore. The opening 38 through which the spray passes is sufficiently large to allow removal of the nut 56 and the member 36 when the member 26 is in the cleaning position. Alternatively the nozzle may be cleaned by a reverse flow of paint &c. through the orifice member. The member 26 is rotatable between stops by a handle 28 and the orifice member 36 may be replaced by one of different capacity located at a selected position within said bore, Fig. 2 (not shown). In the embodiments of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the orifice member is mounted in an adapter ring or tip holder.
