A coil component including: a first magnetic core including a columnar portion; a second magnetic core having a facing surface which faces one end surface of the columnar portion; a magnetic-gap layer which is constituted by a non-magnetic material, which is arranged between the facing surface and the one end surface, and which forms a magnetic gap between the facing surface and the one end surface; a coil through which the columnar portion is inserted; and a magnetic molded-body which is constituted by a magnetic material and which covers the first magnetic core and the coil, wherein when watching along the axial center direction of the columnar portion, the magnetic-gap layer protrudes to the periphery of the columnar portion.

A mold apparatus is provided for manufacturing a coil component. The mold apparatus includes a support plate, a die on the support plate, a lid, and a press member that presses the lid toward the support plate. The die has a peripheral side wall defining an opening opposite the support plate. The coil component is placeable in an inner space of the die interior of the side wall. The lid is insertable via the opening into the inner space with an outer peripheral edge of the lid slidably received by the side wall of the die.

A manufacturing method of a coil component including the steps of: assembling and forming a coil assembly body in which a coil is attached to a magnetic-body core; and inputting the coil assembly body and a putty-like admixture including magnetic powders and a thermosetting resin into an inner cylindrical portion of a die, further including the steps of: pressing the admixture which is inputted into the inner cylindrical portion, applying vibration for giving shear force with respect to the admixture which is inputted into the inner cylindrical portion for decreasing the viscosity of the aforesaid admixture, and thermosetting and forming a magnetic cover portion by heating an integrated object comprised of the admixture which was applied with the vibration and the coil assembly body and by thermally-curing the thermosetting resin included in the admixture.
