Abstract: A display apparatus includes: a display panel including a first display area and a second display area; a first timing controller to control an operation of the first display area, generate a first reference clock signal, generate a first internal reference clock signal based on the first reference clock signal, and generate a first synchronization clock signal based on the first internal reference clock signal; and a second timing controller to control an operation of the second display area, receive the first reference clock signal, generate a second internal reference clock signal based on the first reference clock signal, and generate a second synchronization clock signal based on the second internal reference clock signal, wherein the first and second timing controllers are to be synchronized with each other based on the first reference clock signal, and exchange first data based on the first and second synchronization clock signals.

Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel for displaying an image and that includes a plurality of display areas, a light source part for providing a light to the display panel, a luminance measurer for measuring a luminance of each display area of the display panel and outputting a panel luminance signal of each display area of the display panel, and a light source driver for driving the light source part based on the panel luminance signal to decrease the light source luminance signal of each display area of the display panel when the panel luminance signal of each display area of the display panel increases and to increase the light source luminance signal of each display area of the display panel when the panel luminance signal of each display area of the display panel decreases.

Abstract: A method of operating a display device includes operating a timing controller in a normal mode. The timing controller generates a driving signal of a display panel in response to input data signal in the normal mode. The method includes operating the timing controller in a panel self-refresh mode. The timing controller generates the driving signal based on stop image data stored in a frame buffer in response to a first panel self-refresh start command in the panel self-refresh mode. The method includes inputting a second panel self-refresh start command to the timing controller during a synchronization procedure. The timing controller changes an operation mode from the panel self-refresh mode to the normal mode in response to a panel self-refresh end command in the synchronization procedure. The method includes controlling luminance of the display panel, by the timing controller, based on a length of a first vertical blank period.
