Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, a gate line and a data line disposed on the first substrate to intersect with each other, the gate line and data line defining a pixel region, a sustain electrode disposed on the first substrate and overlapping the data line, and a pixel electrode disposed in the pixel region on the first substrate, the pixel electrode including an edge portion overlapping the sustain electrode, an open portion defined in an inner side of the edge portion and overlapping a boundary of the sustain electrode, and a central portion disposed at an inner side of the open portion.
