Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication technique converging a 5G communication system with IoT technology to support a higher data transmission rate compared to a 4G system. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, healthcare, digital education, retail, security- and safety-related services) based on 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. The present invention relates to a method for controlling transmission power of a terminal in a wireless communication system. More particularly, a method for the terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: receiving a power control command from a base station; determining a power control value according to the power control command; determining power control information according to the power control command: determining the number of RF chains required for power control based on the power control information: and controlling the transmission power using a beam pattern according to the determined number of RF chains.
