Abstract: Methods and systems for routing data through IAB nodes 201, 202 in 5G communication networks. Embodiments herein allow routing data between a UE 206 and an IAB donor 200 though IAB nodes 201, 202 using adaptation layers of the IAB donor 200 and the IAB nodes 201, 202. The adaptation layers of the IAB donor 200 and the IAB nodes 201, 202 are configured by defining adaptation layer header and functionality. Mapping is performed between bearers/RLC channels of the UE 206 and the IAB node 202 and between bearers/RLC channels of the IAB nodes 201, 202 and the IAB donor 200. The means to perform the mapping is specified by the adaptation layers of either the IAB donor 200 or the IAB nodes 201, 202. The data is routed through the bearers/RLC channels. The embodiments include managing RLC layer functionality using either hop-by-hop ARQ or end-to-end ARQ.

Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a method for performing a handover in a wireless communication network. The method includes performing, by a network, a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) version change for one or more radio bearers to switch from a first PDCP entity to a second PDCP entity. Further, the method includes receiving, by a User Equipment (UE), at least one of a PDCP version change indication and security key change indication from the network. Furthermore, the method includes performing, by the UE, a PDCP version change to switch from the first PDCP entity to the second PDCP entity for a configured radio bearer in response to receiving the PDCP version change indication.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a method and system for performing a bearer type change of a plurality of radio bearers configured for a User Equipment (UE). The proposed method includes changing the bearer type of specific bearer by the network. Further, the proposed method includes checking any changes in keys or PDCP termination point or PDCP version change. Furthermore, the proposed method includes notifying the UE to change the bearer type either through reconfiguration procedure without handover or SN change procedure or reconfiguration procedure with handover or SN change procedure. The network indicates one or more operations to the UE for performing the bearer type change.

Abstract: An example security processing method includes receiving data packets at a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer from an upper layer and parsing header information of each of the data packets to determine a length of each of the plurality of headers within the corresponding header information and whether a security header is present or absent in the corresponding data packets. The method further includes identifying corresponding header information of the data packets in which the security header is present based on the determination. The method further includes encrypting, based on the determined header lengths, only each of the plurality of headers of the identified corresponding header information in which the security header is present, and thereafter transmitting the one or more data packets to a lower layer after adding information regarding each of the encrypted headers along with their encryption length into a PDCP header.
