The apparatus and method perform the operations of generating an interim address by bit reversal order (BRO) assuming that the remainder R is 0 for the received symbols; calculating an address compensation factor for compensating the interim address in consideration of a column formed with the remainder; and generating a read address by adding the interim address and the address compensation factor for a decoding-required symbol, and reading a symbol written in the generated read address.

Provided is an apparatus and method for canceling an interference signal in a packet data receiver in which data is transmitted and received over a packet data channel and a packet data control channel. The packet data channel is time-synchronized with the packet data control channel. A buffer temporarily stores a signal on the packet data channel, combined after being received through multiple paths, until the packet data control channel is decoded. An interference cancellation controller analyzes packet data control channel information obtained by decoding the packet data control channel, and outputs an interference cancellation command signal only when it is determined that effective packet data to be received exists in a current time slot. An interference cancellation section receives the packet data channel signal output from the buffer, and cancels an interference signal from the packet data channel signal only when the interference cancellation command signal is received.

An apparatus and method for compensating the gain of an Automatic Gain Controller (AGC) for stabilizing the reception power of discontinuously transmitted packet data in a mobile communication system are disclosed. A compensation controller receives an AGC value from the AGC, sampling the AGC value by a predetermined sample number for a predetermined period, and obtains an AGC compensation gain by comparing a predetermined value with the difference between a sampled AGC value with a reference gain for the predetermined period. A compensator compensates the AGC value with the AGC compensation gain, thereby correcting errors generated in view of the nature of the AGC.

Disclosed is a system and method for demodulating packet data channels with multiple Walsh codes in a CDMA mobile communication system supporting voice and packet data services. A plurality of fingers process signals received from a transmitter as inputs, perform despreading and channel compensation with spreading codes pre-assigned to the transmitter, and outputting the despread chip signals. A chip combiner combines the chip signals output from the plurality of fingers. A chip buffer stores the combined chip signals until decoding of the packet data control channels is completed and information on the multiple Walsh codes assigned to the packet data channels. Then, a multiple Walsh demodulator generates at least one Walsh symbol performing Walsh decovering of the combined chip signals using information on the multiple Walsh codes. Therefore, the system can efficiently demodulate data transmission channels using the multiple Walsh codes, and thus complexity of the system and demodulation time can be reduced.
