The test system applies a pulling force to an outer layer of tape adhered to an inner layer of tape through an adhesive bond, while the inner layer of tape is secured to a portion of the test system. The pulling force is measured when the adhesive bond between the outer layer of tape and the inner layer of tape breaks.

Abstract: A technique facilitates forming couplings along a power cable used, for example, to supply power to an electric submersible pumping system. In coupling the power cable to the electric submersible pumping system, a pothead may be provided with individual pothead bodies connected to individual conductors of the power cable. The pothead bodies are held with respect to each other by a plate structure which may be readily secured to a submersible motor of the electric submersible pumping system. If splices are formed along the power cable, individual potheads may be secured to conductor ends of the sections of power cable. The conductor ends are then inserted into corresponding individual adapters in a manner forming a secure and sealed connection.

Abstract: A system and methodology facilitates the supply of electrical power in a variety of harsh environments. The technique may utilize an electrical power cable having an insulator located around an electrical conductor. The insulator and the electrical conductor are positioned within a metallic tube. In a variety of applications, the metallic tube enables construction of the electrical power cable without an armor layer. A jacket is disposed between the insulator and the metallic tube and is designed to compensate for differences in thermal expansion between the materials. The jacket may be formed with gas pockets distributed therein to compensate for a different level of thermal expansion of the jacket relative to, for example, the metallic tube.
