    Abstract: A sensitized, photo-structurable glasses and methods for producing are provided. The glasses includes Si4+, one or more crystal-agonist, one or more crystal-antagonist, and one or more pair of nucleating agents. The glasses are sensitized in that the glass reacts more sensitive to irradiation with UV-light and can be crystallized easier and with higher aspect ratios than a non-sensitized glass with equal composition. Furthermore, the sensitized glasses of this invention have smaller crystal sizes after irradiation and tempering than a non-sensitized glass with equal composition. The invention also relates to a structured glass product. Such product can be obtained by submitting the crystallized glass product to a subsequent etching step. The structured product can be used in components or as component for the application fields micro-technology, micro-reaction-technology, electronic packaging, micro-fluidics, FED spacer, bio-technology, interposer, and/or three-dimensional structured antennae.

    Abstract: A glass includes the following components in % by weight: 2-10 wt-% SiO2, 2-10 wt-% B2O3, 40-55 wt-% La2O3, 4-11 wt-% Gd2O3, 6-14 wt-% Nb2O5, 8-18.5 wt-% TiO2, and 5-11 wt-% ZrO2. The glass has a refractive index nd of at least 2.02, a sum of the portions of La2O3, Nb2O5, TiO2 and ZrO2 is at least 76.5% by weight, and a weight ratio of a sum of the portions of La2O3, Nb2O5 and ZrO2 to the portion of TiO2 is at least 3.85:1.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to optical glasses, in particular special short flint glasses (KZFS) and optical elements and components, which comprise these glasses, and use thereof and a method for producing such optical glasses. The optical glasses of the present invention are characterized by a pronounced short flint character and additionally by an excellent transmission and chemical resistance and workability. At that, the glasses of the invention can stand out due to lower costs of production caused by lower costs of raw materials and lower processing costs, due to their crystallization properties that can be handled also in smaller melting aggregates, and due to good environmental compatibility.
