Abstract: An alarm system for monitoring portable articles comprises a smart sensor for operatively engaging a portable article. The smart sensor includes an actuator having a secured state and an unsecured state relative to the portable article. A memory stores a sensor address. A controller has a sensor bus operatively connected to the smart sensor. The controller includes a memory storing sensor addresses. The controller is operative to periodically communicate with the smart sensor to determine state of the sensor and to read the sensor address. The controller generates an alarm when the smart sensor is in the unsecured state or if the sensor address read from the smart sensor is not stored in the memory.

Abstract: A USB Type C sensor is disclosed for use with an alarm system for monitoring a chargeable electrical device having a USB Type C port. A sensor comprises a first cable having a USB Type C plug receivable in the USB Type C port. A second cable has a second USB plug receivable in a power source. A third cable has an alarm plug receivable in an alarm receptacle for the alarm system, in use. A housing is operatively connected to the first, second and third cables. A sensor circuit is in the housing and electrically connects the second USB plug to the USB Type C plug to charge a chargeable electrical device to be monitored. A switch circuit monitors a configuration channel of the USB Type C port to determine if the first cable is connected to the chargeable electrical device and responsive thereto controls a switch electrically connected to the alarm plug so that the alarm system monitors status of the switch.

Abstract: A wireless system for monitoring portable articles includes a central alarm unit (CAU) comprising a programmed controller operatively associated with a CAU wireless communication circuit. At least one wireless sensor comprises a programmed controller operatively associated with a sensor wireless communication circuit for communicating with the CAU wireless communication circuit. The CAU is programmed to periodically determine distance between the wireless sensor and the CAU and operates in a programming mode and responsive to manual input commands to determine a normal distance of the article being monitored from the CAU. The CAU is programmed to define a first zone as the normal distance plus a first select amount and a second zone as the normal distance plus a second select amount, greater than the first select amount.

Abstract: A wireless system for monitoring portable articles includes a central alarm unit (CAU) comprising a programmed controller operatively associated with a CAU wireless communication circuit. At least one wireless sensor comprises a programmed controller operatively associated with a sensor wireless communication circuit for communicating with the CAU wireless communication circuit. A tamper detection circuit is configured to determine if the wireless sensor is in an operative state on a portable article being monitored. An alert signal device generates an alert signal in the event that the securing circuit determines that the wireless sensor is not in the operative state. A user input device receives a manual input command. The CAU is programmed to periodically determine distance between the wireless sensor and the CAU and operates in a programming mode and responsive to manual input commands to determine a normal distance of the article being monitored from the CAU. The CAU is programmed to define a first zone as the normal distance plus a first select amount and a second zone as the normal distance plus a second select amount, greater than the first select amount. In an arm mode, if the CAU determines if the wireless sensor is in the second zone then the CAU causes the wireless sensor to generate a warning alert signal. If the CAU determines that the wireless sensor is outside the second zone, then the CAU causes the wireless sensor to generate an alarm alert signal.

Abstract: An integrated charger and alarm unit. A plurality of alarm receptacles are in a housing, each for selectively receiving a sensor cord for sensing security status of one of a plurality of chargeable devices. Abstract: A system disclosed herein comprises a monitoring system for monitoring system breaches and having an armed state and an unarmed state. The monitoring system is operatively connected to a portable article to detect select movement of the portable article relative to the monitoring system, wherein in the armed state a system breach is detected responsive to the detected select movement of the portable article, and in the unarmed state no breach is detected responsive to the detected select movement of the portable article.
