Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing proactive cloud orchestration services for a cloud hardware infrastructure. A health management system may monitor component(s) of the cloud hardware infrastructure. The health management system may determine a failure probability metric for the component(s) based on the monitoring of the component and in consideration of historical information associated with the component, or similar components. The health management system may determine an optimization strategy for the component and, when an optimization decision has been reached, initiate a reconfiguration procedure to implement the optimization strategy. The optimization strategy may provide for mitigating or eliminating the consequences of the component failure associated with data loss, downtime, and the like.
Abstract:
A slider, such as for a data storage system, the slider having a leading edge, a trailing edge, an air-bearing surface, and a transducer proximate the trailing edge. The slider has a low surface energy coating on the air-bearing surface and a high surface energy coating on the transducer. In some embodiments, the high surface energy coating is present on a contact sensor.
Abstract:
A slider that includes a leading edge surface; a trailing edge surface; and an air bearing surface (ABS) positioned between the leading edge surface and the trailing edge surface, wherein the trailing edge surface includes a read-write element, at least one low surface energy region and at least one high surface energy region.
Abstract:
A slider that includes a slider body, the slider body having a trailing edge surface and an opposing leading edge surface; an air bearing surface (ABS) between the trailing edge surface and the leading edge surface; a read/write head located on the trailing edge surface of the slider body; an electrode array located on the trailing edge surface of the slider body, the electrode array including at least a first electrode and at least a second electrode; and first and second bias circuits, wherein the first bias circuit is electrically coupled to the at least first electrode and the second bias circuit is electrically coupled to the at least second electrode.
Abstract:
A slider, having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a working surface, and read/write heads proximate the trailing edge. The slider includes a protective overcoat over the working surface of the slider, and a self-assembled monolayer coating on the working surface of the slider and over the protective overcoat, the coating comprising at least one self-assembled monolayer material.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a slider that includes at least one fluid pathway that is in fluid communication with an air bearing face and/or the trailing edge face of the slider. The at least one fluid pathway is configured to propel/transport a fluid such as a lubricant toward at least one side face via capillary action. The present invention is also directed to related apparatuses and methods.
Abstract:
An apparatus and associated methodology contemplating a slider body defining longitudinal extents at a leading end and a trailing end. A fluid bearing surface is formed in part by a side rail extending substantially longitudinally along the slider body and joined to a cross rail extending substantially laterally along the slider body. The side rail and the cross rail define at least a portion of a positive pressure recess. A vent is defined in the fluid bearing surface that is in fluid communication with ambient pressure fluid on one side of the side rail but is not in fluid communication with the positive pressure recess on the other side of the side rail.
