摘要： A color photographic material and a method of forming a color photographic image which utilizes a 5-pyrazolone magenta coupler shown by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents an acylamino group, an anilino group or a ureido group; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, a carboxy group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group (which groups may be substituted) and R.sub. and R.sub.2 may combine to form a 2-indazolyl group, provided that R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are not hydrogen atoms at the same time; and Ar represents a phenyl group which may be substituted with one or more halogen atoms, alkyl groups, alkoxy groups or cyano groups. These 5-pyrazolone magenta couplers are two-equivalent magenta couplers and particularly suitable for providing silver halide color photographic light-sensitive materials having high sensitivity.

摘要： A process for preparing a 3-N-mono-substituted amino-4-substituted-5-pyrazolone which comprises replacing the hydrogen atom of the NH group at the 3-position of a 3-mono-substituted-5-pyrazolone with a protective group, halogenating the resulting compound to introduce a halogen atom into the 4-position, reacting the resulting compound with a 5- or 6-member heterocyclic compound containing two or more nitrogen atoms to replace the halogen atom at the 4-position with a nitrogen containing heterocyclic group, and hydrolyzing the resulting compound to remove the protective group.
