In a piston pump/motor of swash plate type which comprises: a cylinder block disposed in a casing to be rotatable jointly with a shaft therein; a plurality of pistons slidably inserted in the cylinder block parallel to the shaft; and a swash plate swingably attached to the casing for guiding the plurality of pistons on a front surface thereof and changing a displacement of each of the pistons by changing an inclination thereof, there is provided a swash plate angle changing apparatus in which the swash plate has a rear surface formed with a first contact surface and a second contact surface which make an angle between them. The casing has a swash plate support surface which is perpendicular to the shaft and with which the first contact surface and the second contact surface are each adapted to contact. The casing has a swash plate angle changing piston; the swash plate is swung by a force resultant from thrust forces of the pistons in the direction of the swash plate to a first position whereby the first contact surface makes contact with the swash plate support surface to yield a large angle of the said swash plate and also is swung by a thrust force of the swash plate angle changing piston to a position whereby the second contact surface makes contact with the swash plate support surface to yield a small angle of the swash plate; and the said swash plate has a center of swing located closer to the front surface than the rear surface of the swash plate.

The travel drive apparatus for a hydraulic drive work vehicle includes a travel variable delivery hydraulic pump driven by power from an engine, a hydraulic motor that receives oil discharged from the travel variable delivery hydraulic pump and moves the vehicle at or below a prescribed speed, a travel changeover valve that receives the discharged oil from the travel variable delivery hydraulic pump, supplies the discharged oil to the hydraulic motor and discharges return oil from the hydraulic motor to a tank, in which a horsepower control mechanism is provided that is linked to the travel variable delivery hydraulic pump, that is operated by receiving pressure for driving the hydraulic motor at one end thereof and a signal responsive to a turning speed of the engine at the other end thereof, and that outputs a command to discharge a certain quantity of oil so that the pressure for driving the hydraulic motor reaches or exceeds a prescribed value, when the engine turning speed is at or below a prescribed value and the hydraulic motor is driven conversely from the vehicle.

The present invention relates to a backpressure control circuit for a hydraulic drive device, which reduces the loss in drive power and which can suppress cavitation. Thus, the backpressure control circuit for hydraulic drive devices is a hydraulic drive circuit: for supplying to a hydraulic motor pressurized oil discharged from a hydraulic pump through a direction changeover valve, which is switched upon receipt of a pilot pressure; and for permitting at the time of braking by the hydraulic motor, a throttle valve to throttle return oil from the hydraulic motor and oil discharged from the hydraulic pump to generate a backpressure to supply pressurized oil to the hydraulic motor via a check valve for prevention of cavitation. The backpressure control circuit includes a pilot valve (60) for taking a pressure on a drive side of the hydraulic motor (24) as a pilot pressure upon receipt of a signal from an operating lever (39), and a variable throttle valve (80) for changing a backpressure to a low pressure or to a high pressure upon receipt of a pilot pressure from the pilot valve (60).

In a counter balance valve, a valve body is provided with a valve bore having first and second pump-side ports, first and second motor-side ports and an auxiliary port. A spool is slidably fitted in the valve bore in a longitudinal direction thereof to establish and block communication between the respective ports. Furthermore, in the hydraulic pilot valve, an erroneous operation due to vibrations and the like is prevented by a damper mechanism (50) interposed between a lever fixed to each of the operating levers (23, 24) and a main body (1) of the valve. Furthermore, a shuttle valve interposed between the output ports of the pressure-reducing valves can simplify the construction of the hydraulic pilot valve for taking out a maximum pilot pressure out of the pilot pressures of the output ports.
