A refrigerator is disclosed which is capable of preventing heat exchange between an evaporator and an outside air during a defrosting operation and/or when a door is open. The refrigerator has a device for opening/closing cool air discharge ports formed at a cool air duct. The opening/closing device includes opening/closing member for opening/closing the cool air discharge ports and a driving device for driving the opening/closing member. The cooling efficiency is enhanced and the frost caused by the outside air is not generated on the evaporator.

A refrigerator having a cool air path and a cool air discharge control blade for distributing cool air and controlling the discharge direction thereof and a method for controlling refrigerator temperature by controlling a cool air discharge direction are provided. By placing a disk-shaped cool air guiding portion in a discharge hole, cool air is rapidly and uniformly distributed via the cool air path and by low-speed rotation of the cool air discharge control blade, thus keeping the refrigerator at a predetermined temperature uniformly. Temperature sensors are installed on each side of the refrigeration compartment and the sensed average or representative temperatures are compared with a control reference temperature, so that cool air can be discharged to high temperature areas.

A method for controlling opening/closing of cool air discharge ports of a refrigerator is disclosed. The refrigerator has a device for opening/closing the ports. The device has a member for opening/closing the ports, and a motor for driving the member. A microcomputer measures temperatures at positions in a cooling compartment, and calculates a difference between the measured temperatures. When the difference is more than a predetermined value, the motor is driven so that the member repeats opening and closing of the ports. Then, the circulation effect of the cool air in the cooling compartment is enhanced, and the temperature in the cooling compartment maintained uniform.

A temperature controlling method of a refrigerator by using a microprocessor includes the steps of: sampling digitized temperature values counted by an analog-to-digital converter according to a predetermined temperature range by a predetermined frequency by using the microprocessor; when the number (X') of a temperature value (X) counted with the most frequency is not less than a desired frequency, selecting the temperature value with the most frequency as a controlling temperature; when the number (X') of the temperature value (X) counted with the most frequency is less than the desired frequency, selecting a value obtained by adding/subtracting a predetermined temperature value which is less than the predetermined temperature range to/from the temperature value (X) with the most frequency as the controlling temperature; and selecting a temperature value obtained by applying the steps to at least two temperature values (Y) (Z) counted with the second most frequency and the third most frequency, as the controlling temperature. Quantitative sampling is carried out on the temperature value less than resolving power of a microprocessor, and a controlling temperature value is then obtained from the sampled value and used for controlling the inner temperature of the refrigerator, so that the inner temperature can be maintained in the optimal condition.

There are described a defrosting method and apparatus of a refrigerator using a GA-fuzzy theory. The defrosting method comprises the steps of: inputting reference learning data by experiment and actual data to a microcomputer; inferring frost-quantity on an evaporator from the input data by using the GA-fuzzy theory; calculating a defrosting period from the frost amount; and controlling a defrosting heater depending on said defrosting period. According to the present invention, a refrigerator can be defrosted by calculating the frost-quantity on the evaporator with precision and accuracy even at an input function which has many inflexion points and is impossible to differentiate, which is different from the conventional defrosting method using the crisp's logical algorithm consisting of `0` and `1`.

A refrigerator having a device for opening/closing cool air supply ports is disclosed. The refrigerator has a sensor for sensing temperature in a cooling compartment, a motor for driving the device, and a control part for controlling the motor so that an open degree of the cool air supply ports are controlled by the device on the basis of the temperature difference between the sensed temperature and a standard temperature. Since the open degree of the cool air supply ports is controlled according to the standard temperature and the real temperature of the cooling compartment, the temperature of the cooling compartment is exactly controlled.
