    摘要: An embodiment includes a method executed by at least one processor comprising: an out-of-band cryptoprocessor receiving security credentials from a battery, which is included in a mobile computing node that comprises the at least one processor, while the mobile computing node is engaged in at least one of (a) booting, and (b) exchanging the battery after booting and during run-time; the cryptoprocessor accessing an authentication key; and the cryptoprocessor successfully authenticating the battery, via out-of-band processing, based on the security credentials and the authentication key. The remote management controller exposes a virtual network interface controller, such as a driverless virtual USB network interface controller, to the managed host computer. Through the in-band connection provided by the virtual network interface controller, the remote management controller can send a command to the host operating system or one or more guest operating systems executing in a virtualized environment. If no reply is received to the command, the remote management controller takes corrective action to restore the operation of the host operating system or the non-responsive guest operating systems.

    摘要: A UEFI compliant firmware is disclosed that includes a UEFI legacy boot loader. The UEFI legacy boot loader provides functionality for loading operating systems that are non-UEFI compliant in a performant manner. In particular, the UEFI legacy boot loader provided in one embodiment disclosed herein is configured to utilize UEFI disk services to load an O/S kernel and other O/S components. Once the UEFI legacy boot loader has completed loading the O/S components, the UEFI legacy boot loader enables interrupt handling by the O/S, relocates O/S real mode kernel setup code to a low memory region (below 1 MB), and switches a processor to a real mode of operation. The UEFI legacy boot loader then causes the real mode kernel setup code to be executed on the processor, to thereby complete the loading of the operating system.
